HONEST Review & Swatches | Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette

abh subculture palette

There’s been quite a bit of controversy over this palette and, after testing it out myself, I’m a little confused. On the blog today, we’re going to be swatching and reviewing the new Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture eyeshadow palette. First off, I never really follow the “trends” when it comes to opinions unless it is that of a beauty guru that has similar makeup wants, skin type, etc. to myself and is one that I trust. So, when Laura Lee gave some sketch comments on this palette, I was weary… but even she, as well as Manny MUA, stated that this palette is pig-men-ted. That’s a sell for me so I immediately went and purchased it from Sephora.

When I came home to this palette on my doorstep, I went inside and immediately swatched it. First off, I totally see the fallout aspect that people are getting all bent out of shape about. It does have fallout but… it’s not as bad, in my opinion, as everyone is making it out to be. Granted, I watched the videos above and it looks pretty bad but I did finger swatches (which, yes, I realize will have different results) and I really dig into the colors whenever I do this. Even digging in, I did not get as much fallout as I thought I would after watching the above videos. I don’t know if they stepped up the formula a bit after seeing all the negative comments/reviews regarding the palette and they are sending out improved versions, but that’s the only explanation that I have for this? I honestly think this is a beautiful palette. I’m obsessed with the unique color scheme and these shades are so pigmented, it’s insane.

fallout fallout 2 fallout 3

Now that we’ve touched on the tea, let’s get into the swatches of this bad boy.

top row subculture

Top Row (top to bottom, left to right in palette): Cube, Dawn, Destiny, Adorn, All Star, Mercury, and Axis

bottom row subculture

Bottom Row (same order as above): Roxy, Electric, Fudge, New Wave, Untamed, Edge, and Rowdy

And that’s my review of this palette! I would definitely get this if you haven’t yet. Fallout is not something that makes me say no to a palette and it normally just means that there is a lot of pigment in the formula, which you can clearly see is true for this one.

Blogger Spotlight | Hannah at Rand0mg4l

hannah rand0mg4l

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to Hannah at Rand0mg4l. She is a new blogger, only two months in, who is about to start college in September. The interview itself mainly focused on her being a new blogger, as this is exciting and I love to hear how we all got started. Read the interview below, check out her links to her social media, and her blog.

hannah rand0mg4l

Q1: What are you most excited about starting out in the blogging community?

This is going to sound so clichè but just meeting new bloggers and learning about their story of why they started. I also am so excited to be aiming and hitting some goals I have for my blog, which I know will be supported by the community. Another thing is collaborations with other bloggers and hopefully some brands/companies; meeting new people through the community and creating content with someone else’s ideas in it too will be so much fun! And the final thing, that at the moment I only have a Twitter account for my blog but in the future I want to create an Instagram and Facebook page for it! So keep an eye out!

Q2: Since you are starting college soon, what do you want to study and what is your dream job?

I’ll be studying BA Hons Dance as this is what I’ve studied and had as a hobby for all my life. As for dream job; it has changed so many times over the years but still within the area of performing. I would love to be a choreographer or dance teacher, as I feel incredible when passing on knowledge or knowing I helped someone succeed at what they love (and in turn what I love too). It’s so amazing to see success in an area you strive to be in and soon to be part of. So I cannot wait to start my next chapter of studying and learning about dance to further my love and passion for the art.

Q3: Do you have anything you really want to learn as a new blogger? If so, what?

I would love to know a lot more about the business side of things, finding out what things like DA and SEO are? I am currently not a self-hosted blogger but have started thinking that maybe in the future I would become one if I felt I could handle the business side of things. I’ve seen people speak of media kits as well before, this must mean I have a lot to learn. I also love learning about why other bloggers started, and what it was that made them want to blog, every story is different and that’s what makes me so interested in them.

Q4: What inspired you to start your blog?

Truthfully, it was more of a spear of the moment thing, I had seen a few people’s blogs in the past and wondered what it would be like. My friend Kellie Nee was actually more of an inspiration to get going with it than anything as I knew she had one and looked to be thoroughly enjoying it. Now I can see why! I also wanted an online space where I can write about whatever and whenever I wanted, I already knew of the supportive community it had and knew I’d be embraced with positivity.

Q5: Do you have a quote that you live by? If so, what is it? If not, why not?

I absolutely love quotes! I find them so inspiring and I can relate or find meaning in most of the quotes I read. Personally, I feel as though I live by quite a lot but my favourite one would probably be “Sometimes on the way to a dream, you get lost and find a better one.” This quote was given to me on a plaque I hang in my room from my Mum and was given to me at a time I needed most in my life. It acts as a constant reminder that my life isn’t one straight journey, I may fall, trip or completely change route on my path but it will always be for the best.

Note from the Blogger:

I’ve only been blogging 2 months and that I’m extremely thankful for all the support and positivity I’ve received from the blogging community and anyone who reads my posts since I’ve started not long ago.

Review & Swatches | Karrueche x ColourPop She Palette

she palette

Karrueche and ColourPop are back at it again! They have released another collaboration collection that featured several pieces, including this gorgeous palette, the She palette. This is part of the Fem Rosa collection which included three lippies, a face palette, and this eyeshadow palette.

she palette

Now, ColourPop is known for their Super Shock Shadows that come in special packaging so they do not dry out, but awhile back they released pressed eyeshadows! This palette is in that form and, let me tell you, their pressed shadows are just as amazing as their SSS.

inside she palette

This palette just screams Valentine’s Day to me. I can’t wait to break it out for some feminine looks during that time of the year. In the palette, you get 12 eyeshadows and it retails for $16.00 USD. At about $1.33 per shadow, there is no beating this quality.

top row she

This row, the top one, features three metallic shades and the one and only satin in the palette. The swatches top to bottom align with the palette from left to right: Ladylike, Babe, Dainty, and Chick. These are the much more light and soft colors if you want a very feminine look without going too dark or sultry.

middle row she

The second row features all metallic shades and it gets into more of the dark colors that I am drawn to. From top to bottom, we have Mademoiselle, Gal, Empress, and Filly.

bottom row she

The third and final row features all matte shades to help with blending and making that smokey or seamless look with the previous shadows. I have successfully created an entire look with this palette so it is definitely possible with the shades provided. This row, from top to bottom, is Dear, Missy, Damsel, and Duchess.

The pigment in these shadows is unreal and you can’t beat with a stick for that price. I highly recommend this palette to those who love the reddish, pink, and warmer shades. It is currently out of stock but be sure you get your hands on it once it comes back!

Travel Bucket List

travel bucket list

After going to Ireland this past May, I have serious travel fever. There are so many places I want to go, so many things I want to do, but unfortunately I have to be an adult and it sucks. I really am considering starting a travel fund and once I reach a certain amount, take the time to go visit places, even if I go on my own!

travel bucket list
(c) Life of Kimberly | Antrim Coast, Ireland

While having this want, I have a huuuge bucket list that I’ve been developing in my head over time and I figured, why not put it all into words for you guys? Maybe we have similar wants (and we can do them together!).

  • See Central Park during Christmas time
  • See a show on Broadway
  • Visit Big Ben
  • Ride a double decker bus in London
  • See the Northern Lights
  • Swim in the clear water of the Philippines
  • Go to New Orleans during Mardi Gras
  • Attend Oktoberfest
  • Backpack through Europe
  • Go to King’s Cross in London
  • Go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
  • Visit castles in Scotland
  • See the cherry blossoms in Japan
  • Toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain
  • Swim with dolphins
  • Swim under a waterfall
  • Ride in a gondola
  • Tour the Warner Bros studio in London
  • Visit Wynott’s Wands in Massachusetts
  • Go to the Bonnaroo music festival for the entire time
  • Stay in a hostel in a European town
  • Go to Disney World
  • Go on the Graffiti tour in Berlin
  • Walk across the Charles Bridge in Prague
  • Go to a shop for tea in the UK
  • Visit the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam
  • Go to Barney’s Coffeeshop in Amsterdam
  • Go to New Renaissance Bookshop in Portland, Oregon
  • Go shopping in the Mall of America
  • Go to Portland, Oregon (and never come back)

This is not nearly all the things I want to do but these are the ones that come to mind and the ones that I think I’d actually be able to do some day (hopefully). What are some things on your travel bucket list?

Blogger Spotlight | Julia at Glass of Class

julia glass of class

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to this gorgeous lifestyle blogger named Julia. She is twenty-two years old and resides in the beautiful city of London. The interview consisted of focusing on her creative nature and her blog as a whole. Below is the interview I had with Julia as well as the links to her social media and her blog.

julia glass of class

Q1: As you started your blog for you to “put your creativity” to use, what other things do you find yourself exceptionally creative at?

I use my creativity in all aspects of life, I think. I’m creative when I do my makeup, cook, bake and even clean. I am always on the lookout for new things to make and I absolutely love everything related to DIY. And looking at the end product knowing that you made it yourself is one of the best feelings in the world. Still, my favourite thing to do is writing – I write not only blog posts, but I tend to write poems and short stories, letters and notes; my mind just comes up with so many ideas that I cannot sit and let it go to waste.

Q2: What is your favorite topic to blog about?

My favourite topic to blog about would be makeup and anything beauty. I’d like to think that I am good at it, but the truth is that I am still learning. I think that’s why it’s my favourite, because through doing my research I can expand my knowledge. So on my blog, you can expect many makeup looks, both invented by me and inspired by celebrities. I also love recreating different hairstyles and I’m planning to include that in my posts as well. My boyfriend says that I’m like an artist when it comes to hair, so I’m positive it’ll turn out alright.

Q3: Do you have any sneak peeks into what we can expect to see from your blog in the future?

I have a really long list of blog posts I’d like to write and I am slowly working on them. I’m really excited because I think they are interesting so hopefully, I’ll get it done and be happy enough with them to post. All I can promise is that I will always be myself and be painfully honest with a healthy dose of humour and sarcasm because that’s what I’m about. As long as my readers enjoy themselves and have a little laugh when reading my blog posts then I know I’m doing something right. So keep your eyes peeled, you won’t regret visiting my blog.

Q4: Who are your top 3 influences for you, as a blogger?

I’d say that the biggest influence for me is the whole blogging community. I read loads of different blogs and learn from them. Nobody would understand what it’s like to blog apart from another blogger. But if I’m lacking inspiration I always ask my friends what they would like to read about, what they struggle with or what would be good to write about and they always have a topic for me that just clicks. And I’ll be a bit cliche now, but Zoella would be my biggest influence when it comes to blogging. I mean, this girl can do everything, can’t she?

Q5: Is there anything you would tell something who is wanting to start a blog of their own?

I would definitely recommend writing a blog. It is such a good hobby/passion to have and most of the time you don’t even have to spend a lot of money on it! Plus, connecting with other bloggers is so much fun. Everyone I have spoken to has been really nice, welcoming and helpful. What is more, for me my blog is a place where I can be fully myself and I don’t have to pretend anything to be liked. If someone enjoys my content – that’s amazing, makes me extremely happy. If someone doesn’t – well, there will be others who will.

My Go-To Face Mask for Acne-Prone/Combination Skin

glamglow

Today I’m going to talk about my go-to mask for my acne-prone and combination skin. This is the GlamGlow SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment. Now I know this is probably one of the most hyped masks at Sephora but let me tell you… it’s for good reason! I seriously always feel like it truly helps my skin when it starts freaking out. I have a tendency to get dry patches but my skin is almost always oily in the t-zone and I have terribly clogged pores that I am slowly working on clearing out.

glamglow

This mask has helped clear them out, improved my breakouts, and truly made my skin feel alive. When it’s on the face, it really feels like it is working! I immediately feel a cooling, tingly sensation that I imagine is it getting into my pores and clearing all the junk and dirt.

wet mask

My favorite part of this mask is that you can actually see the results because there are dark spots and spots where it extracted all the dirt in your pores. Once it dries, it is easy to tell because it goes from a dark gray to a very pale gray color, except for where it extracted the dirt in your problem areas!

dry mask nose chin

I normally take a damp washcloth and just start slowly wiping it away with warm water. I try really hard to not scrub so I don’t irritate my already red skin (it’s naturally how my skin is). Once it’s off, my skin feels refreshed and I can tell that my face is much clearer in my problem areas. Granted, I have very blocked pores from years of mistreatment to my face as a teen so it’s going to take a long time for me to get my face to where I want it.

This mask almost always stops my breakouts as well. It feels as though it dries them up so they are no longer infected and then I can just let them heal normally after they are no longer irritated!

Have you ever tried this mask? Would you recommend it? Do you have another go-to mask for acne-prone skin? Maybe another GlamGlow mask you adore? Let me know in the comments!

The Liebster Award

I am so excited to be writing this as I was, once again, nominated for the Liebster Award. When I was previously Blogs for Days, I was also nominated and I was super proud! This time, I was nominated by Lisa so make sure you go check out her blog and leave some love.

liebster award

So, for this award, the person nominating you asks you 11 questions and you answer them, nominate 11 bloggers, and create 11 new questions for them to answer on their blogs! Here are the questions that Lisa asked me.

1. What inspired you to start a blog?

My blog started as an outlet for my anxiety and depression. I have struggled with this for as long as I can remember and it took me up until two years ago, when I started my first blog, to realize that I needed help. I got on some medicine and I created Blogs for Days. After awhile, I decided to change to Life of Kimberly as I felt it fit me better and I love when blog names include the names of the bloggers. Initially, I had no idea there was such a large community of bloggers but I quickly discovered them on Twitter and kept engaging and meeting new people until I got to the point where I felt super comfortable in the blogging world. I feel so welcome and part of the community now. 💕

2. What is your favorite quote?

My favorite quote is from Harry Potter and it is said by Albus Dumbledore: “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” This has been a quote that has stuck with me throughout the years. I have had many dark times in my life where I felt there was no “light” at the end of the tunnel. This is something that puts my mind into the proper state and helps me stay in the positive mindset that I have focused in on for the past few years.

3. If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what song would it be and why?

In Between by Beartooth, no question. This is my favorite song and I actually have lyrics from it tattooed on my back. This song is really just something that helps with my mental health overall. Specifically, when my mom passed away this past September, I was broken. I had come to the point where I was not sure what meaning I had left in life. I still struggle daily but I got my tattoo because I needed to force myself into who I was before. She would have never wanted me to be in this state and I need to be happy for her. In the song, it says, “It’s easy to lose yourself, I know,” and that has stuck with me since the first time I hear the song.

4. What type of blog posts do you enjoy reading? (lifestyle, beauty, etc.)

I love to read all types but lifestyle, beauty, and college-related posts are generally the ones that I gravitate towards as they are what my niche is as well. I have a special place in my heart for beauty and college posts as they are what basically got me started in the blogging world. I have huge Pinterest boards for both of those areas!

5. What are your top 5 favorite films?

This is so hard! I have so many films that I love. If I had to choose just five…
#1 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
#2 Alice in Wonderland
#3 Nightmare on Elm Street
#4 Freddy vs. Jason
#5 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

6. What is your favorite season, and why?

Hands down, my favorite season is fall. I love the weather, the holidays, and just the general atmosphere during that time. Plus, that weather is what the majority of my clothing is made for so I definitely get to look a lot cuter when it is the fall, windy, and cool weather. I also just love the colors, all the beautiful reds, yellows, and oranges just speak to me.

7. If you could go back in time, where would you go?

If I could go back in time, I would go back to the birthday trip to Florida I had with my mom. She was so excited for that trip and she planned it just for us after my original plans had fallen through. She was one of the most selfless and amazing human beings I have ever known. Losing her has been the single most difficult experience I have ever had to deal with and I miss her every single day. I would go back to tell her all the things I wish I got to say before she passed, even though I knew she knew them. I would tell her how much I love her, I would hug her for as long as possible, and I would be able to hear her tell me, “I love you, baby girl,” one last time.

8. What is your biggest achievement so far?

I believe my biggest achievement in life so far is staying in college. I graduate in December and I could not be more proud of myself. There were days when I just wanted to throw the towel in and these last four years have felt like they would never come to an end. I cannot believe that I will have a bachelor’s degree in December. I have worked so hard for this accomplishment.

9. What is your biggest pet peeve?

I think my biggest pet peeve is probably just rudeness. It seems so simple but I try really hard to be happy and positive all the time and when someone is rude for absolutely no reason at all, or even if they have a reason, I just find it extremely intolerable. I understand being annoyed or upset but that should never transfer into how you treat a person. You could be the difference to any person you encounter and you never want that to be a negative experience.

10. What is the number 1 thing on your bucket list?

The number one thing on my bucket list is probably to move to a big city and make a life for myself. It seems like something that’s not over the top but I have lived in small towns my entire life where there’s not much to do and going on trips to big cities always make me so happy. I would love to live some place where I could literally walk anywhere and get where I need to go and I can just get work done in a little coffee shop around the corner. That kind of living has always been something I have strived for.

11. What is one thing you have learned since you started blogging?

I think the one thing that I have learned is to make content for you as well as your readers. Writing a blog generally is targeted at reaching a specific audience and, although you still want to do that, readers are not going to keep coming back if you are just writing for views/engagement. You need to write about things you love, things that have to do with you as a person. From my experience, these are the types of blogs that have the most success.

Now here are my 11 questions for the bloggers that I will be nominating.

  1. What is your favorite type of blog post to read?
  2. Do you have any special talents that no one really knows about?
  3. If you could brag on yourself about one thing, what would it be?
  4. What is your favorite kind of animal and why?
  5. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  6. What is your favorite part about the blogging community?
  7. What are your blogging goals for the rest of this year?
  8. What are your all-time favorite skincare products?
  9. Do you have a favorite band? If so, who are they and why are they your favorite? If not, why not?
  10. What are three things that you say all the time in real life?
  11. Do you believe in love at first sight? Why or why not?

Finally, these are the lovely people that I am nominating for the Liebster Award.

  1. Jacqueline at Jackie O My
  2. Stephanie at Steph & Home
  3. Indya at The Small Adventurer
  4. Briana at MySpiritedLifestyle
  5. Kasey at Adventures in Adulting
  6. Kami at Life with Kami
  7. Shaz at The Shaz Diaries
  8. Lay at Lay Summers
  9. Joyce at The Joyce Collective
  10. Cassidy at Cassidy’s Adventures
  11. Steph at Unwind with Steph

Congrats, guys! Don’t forget to tag me in your posts on social media so I can leave some love. ❤️

Life Update | Anxiety, Depression, & Student Teaching

life update

life update

It’s been awhile since I’ve just sat down and talked to you guys so I thought I’d do a little life update in the midst of all our regularly scheduled programming. So, as most of you know, my major is basically everything to me this past Friday, I had my first day of student teaching. This brought a whirlwind of emotions into my head. Although the day went well and I truly feel that I am going to enjoy this placement as well as my others later in the semester, I am still doubting myself in so many ways. I am a long-time sufferer of anxiety and depression. I have been battling my mental health for as long as I can remember. There have been days that I hardly check my phone and I just sleep the day away because I am so mentally exhausted.

My job is a very socially interactive deal and it takes a lot out of me every shift in order to stay happy, smiling, and provide, in relation to my opinions, the best customer service. It’s weird to actually say to someone, but I really am a very positive and generally happy person. When my anxiety and depression subside, I feel like my best self. I can talk to people all day, I am so confident in my abilities, and I feel like others see my true self. Here lately, those days have been few and far between.

I don’t know if it’s the things that are lingering in my mind or just an overall emotional breakdown, but I am just having a hard time pushing myself to get out of bed every morning. I constantly feel like someone is judging me, talking badly about me, or just trying to hurt me, when I know this isn’t the case. It’s even harder to deal with because these were all things that I confided to my mom about. If you have been around for awhile, you know my mom passed away last September and we are coming up on the one year mark. I honestly think this has the majority to do with my issues here lately.

Although I have some extremely supportive figures in my life, one in particular, that are always there for me whenever I need someone to talk to, I am constantly feeling as though I am a burden. In the back of my mind, I know that this is not true. I know that I am worth more than I think. I know that people care about me. I know that I have people I can talk to, but I still have problems battling that inner voice that tells me, “No, you’re not good enough. No one cares that you’re depressed. No one wants to hear your complaining. No. One. Cares.

In regards to student teaching, I am hoping that, over time, I will have enough confidence in my placements to work past these mental health battles that I am having. The classroom has always been where I am the happiest and where I feel that I shine the most. I love my career choice and wouldn’t change my path for anything in the world, but having my mind makes some days more difficult than others. It is times like these when I go to positive blog posts, quotes, and try my best (sometimes unsuccessfully) to reach out to those who I know will be there.

Here’s a quote that really speaks to me:

She was powerful, not because she wasn’t scared, but because she went on so strongly, despite the fear. – Atticus

Blogger Spotlight | Becca at Becx Blogs

becca becx blogs

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to a fab lady named Becca! She is a twenty-four-year-old blogger from Newcastle upon Tyne. She has been in the realm of creating content online since she was 18 but blogging was something that came along for her later. Below is the interview I had with Becca as well as her links to her social media and her blog.

becca becx blogs

Q1: What made you take the switch from being a YouTuber to doing blogging instead?

Back when I was 18-20, I made YouTube videos on dog training; like how to train tricks and clicker training. I got up to 800 subscribers and I was proud of it. As I left university and started working full time, I focused more on work and didn’t make any videos for 4 years. Since I’m currently unable to work at the moment because of illness, I wanted to get back into making videos and uploaded a couple. I saw on Twitter and Instagram that quite a lot of people wrote blogs, and genuinely just thought… why not? I like writing, I like creating, I have things I would like to share! I made my first post in June and since then things have gone pretty well I think, and I’m really enjoying it. Although, I do still upload videos, I’m definitely spending a lot more time on my blog. It’s probably 80% blogging and 20% YouTube! I now have about 655 subscribers on YouTube and not many followers on my blog, but I’m very happy with how many views I have on it, it’s still early days.

Q2: What is your favorite thing to blog about?

I want to blog about everything that I’m interested in and the things I’m passionate about. There’s quite a few so, my blog is going to have quite varied content, and I quite like that idea. Last August I was diagnosed with an incurable auto-immune disease called Ulcerative Colitis and my experience has been super up and down. I got pushed out of a job because of how difficult one employer was with it, and it all seemed to boil down to lack of understanding and awareness. I want to raise awareness and share my experiences on it to help others. I wrote a blog called “Living with Ulcerative Colitis” which has so far, been my most popular post. My other interests include dog training, gaming, lifestyle and beauty. So, it’s quite literally, a bit of everything. I want to promote positive, reward based training for dogs, since I’m heavily into dog agility and trick training. My “hobbies” around that are things I do every single day, and things I really enjoy talking about and spend a lot of time on, so it makes sense to include them – and that’s all things beauty and games. I’m a huge makeup enthusiast and I’ve been an avid gamer since I was a child. I’m just one big geek really!

Q3: How does your Ulcerative Colitis diagnosis affect your daily life?

Ulcerative Colitis is a horrible disease, it causes your immune system to attack itself inside your colon and intestines, making them swollen, inflamed, ulcerated and bleed. The main symptoms that I experience are extreme abdominal pain, urgency and frequency with the toilet, bleeding, chronic fatigue, joint inflammation, and it’s generally just a pain in the butt. I take around 6 different medications every day to try and control it, and I have endless hospital appointments, and now have a specialist consultant and nurse that I see every 6-8 weeks. I’m not currently working. I ended up on sick leave. My employer made life much harder than it needed to be, to the point where the stress and anxiety at work, made my illness so much more intense. I felt like I just had to leave that negative environment. I remember I was sick one day, she sent me home around dinner time and I took the next day off. I went back to work and was accused of faking my disease. That was the pinnacle which pushed my decision to leave. It also affects your mental health, so I struggle with depression and generalised anxiety disorder, which I’ve had therapy for and take medication for that as well. So those are some area’s I’ll likely address in my blog in the future.

Q4: What advice do you have for a blogger just starting out?

I would definitely recommend using Twitter, a lot. I got involved with comment swaps, follow trains, and used BloggersTribe, BBlogRT and NEBloggers (I’m in the North East). They were brilliant, when you hashtag them, they retweet you, and they’re often the ones hosting the comment swaps. I made sure I was reading other people’s blogs and staying active, replying to people, sharing their blogs to help them, and I found they in return wanted to help me. I think the community in general are super supportive, it’s amazing. I’m now in an Instagram group for comment and like swaps and I’m in a Twitter one as well. I think most of all, just enjoy what you’re writing, your passion shines through and people will like that.

Q5: What is one quote that inspires you, as a blogger, and why?

My favourite quote, probably of all time, is from The Imitation Game. It’s an amazing film, you must watch it if you haven’t already! “Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine.”

Note from the Blogger:

The blog is going to be a bit of everything, so there should be something for any kind of person. I’m still new so I’m sure I’ll begin to find certain posts I really like making eventually 🙂

My “Me” Time Activities

me time

Making “me” time is something that I believe is essential to living a stress-free and happy life. If you don’t make time for yourself, how are you supposed to be well enough to make time for others? That being said, there are some things that I truly enjoy doing in order to get in a little “me” time. Whether I get to do these things every day, once a week, or once a month, I always try to make time for myself and I recommend that you all do as well.

me time

#1 Take a hot bath.

This is probably one of my favorite me time activities. I love to put some essential oils in my bathtub or make it all bubbly and just run the hottest water I can stand and soak. I’ll put on some relaxing tunes, light a few candles, and de-stress the day.

#2 Work on my blog!

Most people may not think of this as me time but I sure do. Blogging is something I love doing and I have such a passion for so when I get time to just sit down, work on my blog, and disconnect from everything else, I am a happy camper.

#3 Play video games.

Not that this is something “relaxing” necessarily but it is fun and makes me happy! Lately, I’ve been addicted to playing The Sims 2 again because they finally got it all debugged for Mac and I was able to score the Super Collection online for pretty cheap.

#4 Play with makeup.

When I want to cheer myself up, I’ll normally play with my makeup. Whether that’s work on swatching new products and taking photos or just doing a full face glam on myself for no reason, it makes me happy and that is the whole point.

#5 Play with my animals.

I have two cats and a puppy and they make the happiest animal mama around. They all are so adorable and loving. My puppy, Blaze, loves to play and give kisses and my biggest kitty, Chase, loves head scratches and cuddles. The little girl of the family, Lily, isn’t much for cuddles but she will allow the occasionally petting every now and then.

These are just some of the things that I enjoy doing to escape from the outside world of drama and despair. (I know, I’m dramatic.) What are some of your favorite things to do when you are trying to have some “me” time? Let me know in the comments below.
