Blogger Spotlight | Victoria at It’s Victoria Anne

victoria anne

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to a newly returned blogger named Victoria! She recently got back from a break from her blog and has loved the progress she’s made from a purely fashion/art blog to what she has now. The interview touched on a little of everything, even having a bit of fun. Take a look at the interview below, check out the links to her social media, and her blog.

victoria anne

Q1: What made you decide to expand from just fashion/art blogging to what you do now?

When I first started my blog, it was to also help my instagram which I created simply for fashion and art. I loved it at first, but the amount of blog posts I had was just not good enough as I was thinking I only had to focus on two genres. I see bloggers say that we almost HAVE to focus on a specialist subject, but I felt uncomfortable limiting myself to a small number of topics to talk about. Now I’ve given my blog a more relaxed and less restricted approach, I feel so much happier with my content: I’ve managed to post every week since I’ve been back blogging and the difference to now compared to the very first month I started, well it’s a brilliant change to see.

Q2: What are your goals, career wise, with a costume design degree?

I never expected to study costume when I was younger simply because I didn’t think it was an industry I could go into; but realising my designs are not for fashion and are for costume, I’m really excited about my future career. I would love to possibly design my own range of hats; I would love to design costumes for period drama that I have watched and admired the costumes worn in it; I would love to be recognised for my costume designs which are my own creation and can be made into reality; I would love for my designs to be instantly recognised as my own.

Q3: What are your favorite kinds of blog posts to write on your blog?

Because i’ve only been back blogging properly for just over a month or so, I wouldn’t say I’ve got a favourite kind of blog post to write? I will admit thought that my post about Long-Distance Relationship advice went down very well with my readers and it was so so nice to hear from others who have or were involved in LDR’s like I am right now. I think saying that, I like writing about things that are personal to me because I can really express myself and know that I don’t have to write “pretend” just so it can impress readers if that makes sense? I don’t want to pretend to be writing as someone that I’m not; otherwise, it’s not my blog and it’s not Victoria Anne.

Q4: What top three tips would you give a beginner blogger?

I love being asked this question, even though I feel I give out terrible advice haha! But my 3 tips t new bloggers would be: engage with other bloggers because the support on social media is absolutely amazing; focus on yourself as a blogger because you want your blog to be you and not a false persona: be yourself and write about whatever you feel passionate about or have something to say about. I’ve focused on these three factors since I’ve been blogging again and I’ve never felt so content with how I have progressed in the blogging world.

Q5: If you were on a desert island and could only have three things, what would they be and why?

Now I always think about the ifs and buts with this type of questions and I find myself not coming to a decision at all! I suppose if I HAD to choose three things to have with me on a desert island, they would be: photographs of my loved ones so I have some comfort and can look at when times are tough; a teddy bear I had since I was young because again, I need a cuddle when times are tough; my third thing would be…well suncream. My pale skin and the sun do not mix. I know I could’ve answered with the typical mobile phone or some sort of technology, but unless they are solar powered by the time I am stranded on a desert island, then they are not going to help!

Blogger Spotlight | Kristy at The Violet Blonde

Kristy violet blonde

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to an adorable beauty blogger named Kristy! She started her blog after loving reading others’ blogs online and having an obsession with beauty (same, girl). The interview covers a little bit of everything including how her job relates to the blogging world and what her favorite go-to beauty products are. Read the interview below, check out the links to her social media, and her blog.

Kristy violet blonde

Q1: Being a beauty blogger, what are your favorite go-to products for your everyday makeup routine?

A difficult question as I try to switch it up and use a range of products, but one I always go back to is the Benefit Brow Zings. This is the perfect everyday brow product for me, a great shade range and lasts all day. Foundation wise a favourite go-to at the moment is the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless foundation. Alongside this, I love using the NARS Soft Matte concealer, L’Oreal False Lash Sculpt mascara, The Body Shop Contour palette, Colourpop eyeshadows and Colourpop lipsticks. I have a Colourpop obsession since finally giving in and making my first haul earlier this year.

Q2: What made you want to focus in on beauty rather than something else?

Beauty is an area I have become obsessed with over the last several years, so it only made sense to include this on my blog. I absolutely love trying new products and seeing how and if they work for me. Discussing this and sharing my own thoughts over on my blog is something I absolutely love to do. Finding new products and reading about new products is something I also really enjoy. I don’t think I could ever not blog about beauty.

Q3: How does being a Marketing Assistant help you as a blogger or vice versa?

Being a blogger helps me everyday in my job as a Marketing Assistant as I market my blog everyday. I talk, and share links and photos through social media which essentially markets my blog to an audience. As a Marketing Assistant I am always looking for new ways to market the company I work for, and put our services out there. Many of the skills I use are invaluable to my position. Vice versa I learn new things everyday at work too, many of which I am always thinking about how it or something similar could work in relation to my blog too.

Q4: What post of yours are you most proud of and why?

There’s a couple of posts that I would probably say and for very different reasons. Both of them are quite recent posts as I only purchased my Olympus camera in March and feel as if my photography is 100x better since I purchased this camera, so since then I have been much prouder of my photography. The first is my post on The Ordinary as this is a brand I absolutely love and it was a post I was incredibly excited about writing; I spent along time writing it. I am also very proud of the photos I took for the post and it has had a lot of views. My other favourite is actually a lifestyle post on 4 years on from university as it is a completely different post for me and one that I really enjoyed writing but also one that I was very nervous about, but it was very well received.

Q5: Who is your favorite beauty blogger?

Another difficult question as there are so many I love, but one of my ultimate favourites would have to be UmmBaby from www.ummbabybeauty.com. Sal is a beauty blogger too and the way she writes is incredibly enticing. I love reading her posts and completely trust her thoughts on any products. Sal is also an incredibly lovely relatable person who regularly interacts with myself and blog too. If you love beauty you definitely need to check out Sal’s blog.

Blogger Spotlight | Taylor at Espresso and Ambition

Taylor espresso and ambition

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to a college lifestyle blogger named Taylor! She talks about everything from fashion to fitness on her blog. The interview itself dived into her blogging life and a little about her going to school. Read the interview below, check out the links to her social media, and her blog.

Taylor espresso and ambition

Q1: What is your favorite topic to write about on your blog?

Anything related to organization/productivity! I’m super into making everything look neat and organizing my time well – my friends constantly tell me it seems like I’m doing everything, which is really just a result of being super organized and efficient. I created my blog to help and inspire other young women, so being able to share things like this that I personally feel like I’m really great at allows me to really get to the center of that purpose. It also means I’m super excited for the back-to-school season because I have an excuse to write organization/planning posts all the time. I also love writing travel posts after I get back from trips because it almost allows me to relive the trip while I’m writing about it.

Q2: Who are your top 3 blogging influences?

Ooh, let’s see. The first is definitely Carly from The College Prepster – that was the first blog I ever started reading (back in high school, I think!) and I still read it daily even now. I just think Carly’s very similar to me personality-wise, so it’s fun to see what she’s up to. I also love Dorothy at Prep in Your Step, who’s way preppier than I could ever be and pulls it off so well. Finally, although she’s originally a YouTuber, I love Sarahbelle93x (she also recently started a blog, so it counts). I also started watching her videos back in high school, and I think she’s just such a cool person and I’ve loved watching her style evolve over the years.

Q3: What are some tips you would give someone who is just starting out blogging?

Stay true to yourself and your voice. As a developing blogger, it’s easy to see the writing styles of other popular bloggers and want to bring elements of their blog into yours, but ultimately, readers want to hear from you, not some overly picturesque version of yourself that you’ve created. Blogging should be a fun passion first, a business second. And on that note —don’t necessarily partner with the first brand that reaches out to you! It’s tempting to jump on every sponsored opportunity you’re handed, but once again, it’s important to stay true to yourself and your blog’s mission.

Q4: As you are a college lifestyle blogger, what is your major and what do you plan to do with that?

LOL, so I’m actually a triple major — I’m majoring in International Affairs, Public Relations, and Economics. (I just really love school, okay?) I do eventually want to go to law school and become a lawyer, but I think I’m going to take a year or two off before I start law school. I want to move to DC and work for a non-profit – although you wouldn’t know it by my blog alone, I’m really passionate about a lot of political issues and really want to be able to work on them in the future. The law school thing is really my big goal – I’m basically a real-life Elle Woods anyways, so might as well add a J.D. onto that!

Q5: What was the inspiration behind your blog’s name, Espresso and Ambition?

think the name actually came to me before I even planned on starting a blog. I’m a huge coffee lover and an incredibly ambitious gal, so the name describes me perfectly. I was probably doing random hand-lettering (my version of doodling) and put the two words side-by-side and liked the aesthetic. When I started considering creating a blog for my study abroad adventures, that name just popped into my mind. Suddenly, the name had a blog to go with it, and boom, Espresso and Ambition was born.

Blogger Spotlight | Kimberly at The Kim Konnection

Kimberly The Kim Konnection

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to someone who is twinning my name, Kimberly at The Kim Konnection! She is a recent college graduate that enjoys online personalities and hopes to be a publicist to one someday. The interview just talked about her life relating to feeling like “a big fish in a little pond” and her blogging experience. Read the interview below, check out the links to her social media, and her blog.

Kimberly The Kim Konnection

Q1: Who is your favorite “online” personality and why?

It’s actually been tied lately between Patricia Bright and Louise Pentland. I’ve been watching Patricia for years and she gives such good advice in various fields (beauty, fashion, life, career, romance, etc.) and I always find myself going back to her videos. Also, she’s a dark skinned woman like myself and that representation is very important to me. And I love Louise because she’s hilarious for one, but she’s also such a strong, compassionate person. She’s been through alot, but she has accomplished so much and to see her so happy makes me very happy. They’re both very inspiring women who have changed me for the better.

Q2: What is your favorite topic to write about on your blog?

My favorite topic to write about is either stories about trips I’ve taken or advice posts based on my personal experiences. It’s always interesting to think back to events that have happened to me and see how they could potentially be helpful to others. I love letting others learn from my mistakes haha.

Q3: What inspires you to keep moving forward with your blog, even though you said you can feel like “a big fish in a little pond”?

What inspires me is seeing other bloggers doing well with their blogs and getting excited about the content they put out. Also, hearing positive feed back on my own blog is really motivating as well. I also would love to see how my blog grows and changes when I finally do move away and all that.

Q4: Do you think that bloggers who write about many different topics or those who have one niche are more successful? Explain.

I think different topics. You can be very successful when focusing on one niche, but then you’re only able to reach one niche audience. Whereas with different topics, you’re able to reach different kinds of audiences, even if they only like a select few of your posts. It just gives you more reach and allows your blog to offer a little something to (almost) everyone. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with niche blogging and a lot of people are very good at it.

Q5: What is one piece of advice you would give to someone wanting to start their very own blog?

Be patient and give what you want to receive. If you want views, comments, and likes on your blog, especially from other bloggers, then you need to view, comment and like their blogs. Not everyone is going to return the favor but it’s a good way to get involved and get to know other bloggers, which will really help in the long run. It also helps get your name out there as well. And if you don’t know where to find other bloggers, go on twitter and join blogger chats!

Blogger Spotlight | Lili at Simple Inspired Life

lili simple inspired life

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to an inspiring individual named Lili! She is a college student at the University of Toronto and she loves to spread those positive vibes we talk about all the time on my blog. The interview just talked about her as a person as well as a bit into her life of blogging. Read the interview below, check out the links to her social media, and her blog.

lili simple inspired life

Q1: Since you live to inspire others, what inspires YOU to keep blogging each day?

Writing has always been therapeutic for me- it’s how I process my emotions. Every one of my posts is relevant to my life in some way; blogging is a bit like journaling, but accessible to everyone. If I were to think of one thing that inspires me to keep blogging each day, it’s the thought that maybe the lessons my experiences have taught me can help others live their best lives.

Q2: Who are your top 3 favorite bloggers and why?

Leo Babauta of Zen Habits is someone who inspired me to start my own blog. I love his writing style, his advice, and the simplicity he loves to foster in life. He definitely motivates me every day to be better as a blogger and a person. Dani DiPirro of Positively Present is another one of my favorite bloggers; I love her take on life. There’s a ton of negativity in the world, and it’s easy to focus on that. I always remind myself and others that happiness comes from the inside out, and Dani embodies the joyful spirit that I aspire to have. Lastly, there’s Alden Tan of alden-tan.com. His writing is extremely raw, uncensored, and to-the-point. He cuts straight to the chase and isn’t afraid to speak his mind. I don’t agree with everything he says, but the way he voices his opinions is fearless, and I admire that. Plus, he gives lots of great advice!

Q3: What is one quote that you live by and why?

Ever since I first heard the George Harrison song, I’ve lived by the quote “all things must pass.” It means different things to me in good times and bad: when things aren’t going so well, it reminds me that time will heal all wounds and I’ll make it through. In good times, it reminds me to appreciate what I have because nothing lasts forever. It’s always good to remember that time passes quickly when you’re not looking, and that every moment, and every experience, is infinitely valuable.

Q4: What are you studying in college and what do you hope to do with that?

I’m studying classics and linguistics. I’m fascinated with the development of language, and the ways in which it’s still changing constantly. Plus, I’ve been a classics nerd forever- I’ve been studying Latin and Ancient Greek for years. I always want to understand language better, not just because I find it incredibly fun but also because it helps a ton with effective writing. I’ve always wanted to be a writer, and gaining a better understanding of language is how I strengthen my skills.

Q5: Do you have any advice for someone who wants to begin writing a blog?

My best advice would be this: blog for yourself first, and for others second. Don’t do it for the money or the followers. Write about what makes you happy, and if you want to become successful, you will. Everything else will follow. Others will want to read your work if it’s passionately inspired and enthusiastic- all the marketing tips in the world won’t help you if your heart isn’t in your writing. Be excited about your blog, and it’ll go where you want it to go.

Blogger Spotlight | Andolina at Lessons from a Student Mom

andolina lessons from a student mom

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to a busy bee named Andolina! She is a mom, student, and blogger. She calls herself a “professional student” because she’s been going to school for 8 years to get her degree. That’s dedication! The interview primarily focused on being a parent and student simultaneously, as this obviously is a hard thing to do. Read the interview below, check out the links to her social media, and her blog.

andolina lessons from a student mom

Q1: What is the toughest part of being a college student and parent?

I’m going to have to get down to the real, down-to-earth answer to this question. The most difficult part, for me, is the regret I have for not completing my schooling before my babies were born. The financial struggle I’ve put myself and my kids in is huge. But besides this, and on a more day-to-day level, would be finding the time to spend quality time with them and keep my grades where I want them to be. I’m a perfectionist and I study constantly when I’m in school. This puts a strain on my time management because I want to give all of my time to them and school at the same time.

Q2: What advice would you give to a parent wanting to go back to school?

Do it. It’s hard, but it’s worth it. I also think that being a parent and college student can show your children the importance of education. I know that the fact that I have homework helps my son cope with the fact that he must do it too. I try to create study times where we sit down together and work on our school work.

Q3: What about psychology/mental health interests you the most?

This has got to be the most difficult question I’ve ever been asked. My interests can be a little out there, and may seem weird to some people, but I’d have to say that the most interesting thing about psychology for me is the psychology of criminals. I have a strong desire to understand the mindset that criminals (specifically those that commit murder and other heinous crimes) have when they are committing their crimes. The truth of the matter is, many of them aren’t mentally ill in the way that the world portrays them to be. Are they wired different? Of course, but they aren’t all psychopaths and the world really needs to understand the difference between criminally insane and psychopath.

Q4: Do you personally struggle with any mental health issues that help you in this endeavor?

Yes actually. I have for years, although just recently (within the past few months) finally reached out for help and got a diagnosis for the issues I’ve faced for years. I’ve been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Mood Disorder (which ties into anxiety), and Moderate Anxiety. There is still a daily struggle, but given the fact that I’ve only recently gotten medical help, they’ve allowed me to learn that there are a lot of things that I can overcome on my own.

Q5: What is one piece of advice you would give to another student/parent blogger?

Don’t give up. Blogging is in no way a get rich quick scheme. If it was, I’d be loaded already. Let me tell you a secret…. I’m not. I’ve only just started seeing a small return on the hours I’ve put in. I’m 3 months in, and I worked my a** off to get to this point. If it is something you are passionate about, don’t let the slow days (and weeks) turn you away from blogging. It has huge potential.

Blogger Spotlight | Hannah at Rand0mg4l

hannah rand0mg4l

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to Hannah at Rand0mg4l. She is a new blogger, only two months in, who is about to start college in September. The interview itself mainly focused on her being a new blogger, as this is exciting and I love to hear how we all got started. Read the interview below, check out her links to her social media, and her blog.

hannah rand0mg4l

Q1: What are you most excited about starting out in the blogging community?

This is going to sound so clichè but just meeting new bloggers and learning about their story of why they started. I also am so excited to be aiming and hitting some goals I have for my blog, which I know will be supported by the community. Another thing is collaborations with other bloggers and hopefully some brands/companies; meeting new people through the community and creating content with someone else’s ideas in it too will be so much fun! And the final thing, that at the moment I only have a Twitter account for my blog but in the future I want to create an Instagram and Facebook page for it! So keep an eye out!

Q2: Since you are starting college soon, what do you want to study and what is your dream job?

I’ll be studying BA Hons Dance as this is what I’ve studied and had as a hobby for all my life. As for dream job; it has changed so many times over the years but still within the area of performing. I would love to be a choreographer or dance teacher, as I feel incredible when passing on knowledge or knowing I helped someone succeed at what they love (and in turn what I love too). It’s so amazing to see success in an area you strive to be in and soon to be part of. So I cannot wait to start my next chapter of studying and learning about dance to further my love and passion for the art.

Q3: Do you have anything you really want to learn as a new blogger? If so, what?

I would love to know a lot more about the business side of things, finding out what things like DA and SEO are? I am currently not a self-hosted blogger but have started thinking that maybe in the future I would become one if I felt I could handle the business side of things. I’ve seen people speak of media kits as well before, this must mean I have a lot to learn. I also love learning about why other bloggers started, and what it was that made them want to blog, every story is different and that’s what makes me so interested in them.

Q4: What inspired you to start your blog?

Truthfully, it was more of a spear of the moment thing, I had seen a few people’s blogs in the past and wondered what it would be like. My friend Kellie Nee was actually more of an inspiration to get going with it than anything as I knew she had one and looked to be thoroughly enjoying it. Now I can see why! I also wanted an online space where I can write about whatever and whenever I wanted, I already knew of the supportive community it had and knew I’d be embraced with positivity.

Q5: Do you have a quote that you live by? If so, what is it? If not, why not?

I absolutely love quotes! I find them so inspiring and I can relate or find meaning in most of the quotes I read. Personally, I feel as though I live by quite a lot but my favourite one would probably be “Sometimes on the way to a dream, you get lost and find a better one.” This quote was given to me on a plaque I hang in my room from my Mum and was given to me at a time I needed most in my life. It acts as a constant reminder that my life isn’t one straight journey, I may fall, trip or completely change route on my path but it will always be for the best.

Note from the Blogger:

I’ve only been blogging 2 months and that I’m extremely thankful for all the support and positivity I’ve received from the blogging community and anyone who reads my posts since I’ve started not long ago.

Blogger Spotlight | Julia at Glass of Class

julia glass of class

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to this gorgeous lifestyle blogger named Julia. She is twenty-two years old and resides in the beautiful city of London. The interview consisted of focusing on her creative nature and her blog as a whole. Below is the interview I had with Julia as well as the links to her social media and her blog.

julia glass of class

Q1: As you started your blog for you to “put your creativity” to use, what other things do you find yourself exceptionally creative at?

I use my creativity in all aspects of life, I think. I’m creative when I do my makeup, cook, bake and even clean. I am always on the lookout for new things to make and I absolutely love everything related to DIY. And looking at the end product knowing that you made it yourself is one of the best feelings in the world. Still, my favourite thing to do is writing – I write not only blog posts, but I tend to write poems and short stories, letters and notes; my mind just comes up with so many ideas that I cannot sit and let it go to waste.

Q2: What is your favorite topic to blog about?

My favourite topic to blog about would be makeup and anything beauty. I’d like to think that I am good at it, but the truth is that I am still learning. I think that’s why it’s my favourite, because through doing my research I can expand my knowledge. So on my blog, you can expect many makeup looks, both invented by me and inspired by celebrities. I also love recreating different hairstyles and I’m planning to include that in my posts as well. My boyfriend says that I’m like an artist when it comes to hair, so I’m positive it’ll turn out alright.

Q3: Do you have any sneak peeks into what we can expect to see from your blog in the future?

I have a really long list of blog posts I’d like to write and I am slowly working on them. I’m really excited because I think they are interesting so hopefully, I’ll get it done and be happy enough with them to post. All I can promise is that I will always be myself and be painfully honest with a healthy dose of humour and sarcasm because that’s what I’m about. As long as my readers enjoy themselves and have a little laugh when reading my blog posts then I know I’m doing something right. So keep your eyes peeled, you won’t regret visiting my blog.

Q4: Who are your top 3 influences for you, as a blogger?

I’d say that the biggest influence for me is the whole blogging community. I read loads of different blogs and learn from them. Nobody would understand what it’s like to blog apart from another blogger. But if I’m lacking inspiration I always ask my friends what they would like to read about, what they struggle with or what would be good to write about and they always have a topic for me that just clicks. And I’ll be a bit cliche now, but Zoella would be my biggest influence when it comes to blogging. I mean, this girl can do everything, can’t she?

Q5: Is there anything you would tell something who is wanting to start a blog of their own?

I would definitely recommend writing a blog. It is such a good hobby/passion to have and most of the time you don’t even have to spend a lot of money on it! Plus, connecting with other bloggers is so much fun. Everyone I have spoken to has been really nice, welcoming and helpful. What is more, for me my blog is a place where I can be fully myself and I don’t have to pretend anything to be liked. If someone enjoys my content – that’s amazing, makes me extremely happy. If someone doesn’t – well, there will be others who will.

Blogger Spotlight | Becca at Becx Blogs

becca becx blogs

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to a fab lady named Becca! She is a twenty-four-year-old blogger from Newcastle upon Tyne. She has been in the realm of creating content online since she was 18 but blogging was something that came along for her later. Below is the interview I had with Becca as well as her links to her social media and her blog.

becca becx blogs

Q1: What made you take the switch from being a YouTuber to doing blogging instead?

Back when I was 18-20, I made YouTube videos on dog training; like how to train tricks and clicker training. I got up to 800 subscribers and I was proud of it. As I left university and started working full time, I focused more on work and didn’t make any videos for 4 years. Since I’m currently unable to work at the moment because of illness, I wanted to get back into making videos and uploaded a couple. I saw on Twitter and Instagram that quite a lot of people wrote blogs, and genuinely just thought… why not? I like writing, I like creating, I have things I would like to share! I made my first post in June and since then things have gone pretty well I think, and I’m really enjoying it. Although, I do still upload videos, I’m definitely spending a lot more time on my blog. It’s probably 80% blogging and 20% YouTube! I now have about 655 subscribers on YouTube and not many followers on my blog, but I’m very happy with how many views I have on it, it’s still early days.

Q2: What is your favorite thing to blog about?

I want to blog about everything that I’m interested in and the things I’m passionate about. There’s quite a few so, my blog is going to have quite varied content, and I quite like that idea. Last August I was diagnosed with an incurable auto-immune disease called Ulcerative Colitis and my experience has been super up and down. I got pushed out of a job because of how difficult one employer was with it, and it all seemed to boil down to lack of understanding and awareness. I want to raise awareness and share my experiences on it to help others. I wrote a blog called “Living with Ulcerative Colitis” which has so far, been my most popular post. My other interests include dog training, gaming, lifestyle and beauty. So, it’s quite literally, a bit of everything. I want to promote positive, reward based training for dogs, since I’m heavily into dog agility and trick training. My “hobbies” around that are things I do every single day, and things I really enjoy talking about and spend a lot of time on, so it makes sense to include them – and that’s all things beauty and games. I’m a huge makeup enthusiast and I’ve been an avid gamer since I was a child. I’m just one big geek really!

Q3: How does your Ulcerative Colitis diagnosis affect your daily life?

Ulcerative Colitis is a horrible disease, it causes your immune system to attack itself inside your colon and intestines, making them swollen, inflamed, ulcerated and bleed. The main symptoms that I experience are extreme abdominal pain, urgency and frequency with the toilet, bleeding, chronic fatigue, joint inflammation, and it’s generally just a pain in the butt. I take around 6 different medications every day to try and control it, and I have endless hospital appointments, and now have a specialist consultant and nurse that I see every 6-8 weeks. I’m not currently working. I ended up on sick leave. My employer made life much harder than it needed to be, to the point where the stress and anxiety at work, made my illness so much more intense. I felt like I just had to leave that negative environment. I remember I was sick one day, she sent me home around dinner time and I took the next day off. I went back to work and was accused of faking my disease. That was the pinnacle which pushed my decision to leave. It also affects your mental health, so I struggle with depression and generalised anxiety disorder, which I’ve had therapy for and take medication for that as well. So those are some area’s I’ll likely address in my blog in the future.

Q4: What advice do you have for a blogger just starting out?

I would definitely recommend using Twitter, a lot. I got involved with comment swaps, follow trains, and used BloggersTribe, BBlogRT and NEBloggers (I’m in the North East). They were brilliant, when you hashtag them, they retweet you, and they’re often the ones hosting the comment swaps. I made sure I was reading other people’s blogs and staying active, replying to people, sharing their blogs to help them, and I found they in return wanted to help me. I think the community in general are super supportive, it’s amazing. I’m now in an Instagram group for comment and like swaps and I’m in a Twitter one as well. I think most of all, just enjoy what you’re writing, your passion shines through and people will like that.

Q5: What is one quote that inspires you, as a blogger, and why?

My favourite quote, probably of all time, is from The Imitation Game. It’s an amazing film, you must watch it if you haven’t already! “Sometimes it is the people no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one can imagine.”

Note from the Blogger:

The blog is going to be a bit of everything, so there should be something for any kind of person. I’m still new so I’m sure I’ll begin to find certain posts I really like making eventually 🙂

Blogger Spotlight | I Woz Ere

blogger spotlight i woz ere

This week’s Blogger Spotlight goes to a mysterious blogger that wishes to keep their true identity a secret. Respecting this and loving the blog, I still wanted to get some insight into them as a person and the blog. Below is the interview I had with the writer at I Woz Ere as well as the links to social media and the blog.

Q1: What was your favorite adventure you have encountered thus far in life?

I was lucky enough to take a year out to travel. I saved enough so I didn’t have to work and planned out a trip with a friend. We each had an absolute ‘I must do’ and picked a route together around them. My absolute must was Route 66 and it was just as I had ever imagined. All bar the Cadillac! We had a Ford Focus, not quite the dream car, but definitely a dream part of my adventure.

Q2: What advice do you have for someone wanting to dive into blogging?

For new bloggers, I would say anyone can do it. Just find your voice and start putting your thoughts into words in front of you. Be clear about what you want to share and stick with it. It’s your interpretation so there’s no right or wrong. But you do want to have your own unique style. Trial and error until you find it. Good luck ?

Q3: What was it like moving from Yorkshire to London?

I had lived in Yorkshire for the majority of my life, but my year out had got me wanting to see and do more. Whilst my heart will always remain in Yorkshire, my move to London was an easy one. There is so much to see and do and there is a great mixed culture, so I still get to meet lots of new people and it definitely keeps my adventurous side ticking until I can travel some more.

Q4: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I have always wanted to try the transiberian express. I wanted to stick it onto my year out, but it would be a real contrast of thick snugly warm clothing, which wouldn’t go well with Australasian climates! I will be ticking it off my bucket list though for sure. I can’t wait to take pictures with those stunning landscapes. I also think it would be fun to drink vodka with the locals in the carriages!

Q5: What is the best advice you can give to another blogger with your niche?

To other bloggers in my niche: tell the reader something they don’t know, that’s what we all want, new information 🙂

Note from the Blogger:

I’m excited to share my adventures with everyone who wants to get involved. I had a group called ‘Coming to a Town/City near you…….’ on Facebook, that was a smaller version of my adventure.
