Blogmas Day 25 | MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

merry christmas

Well, we made it, guys! It’s officially the last day of Blogmas on Life of Kimberly! I have never done this long of a streak with having a new post every single day. I am so proud that I made it through to the very end. Not only is it the last day of Blogmas, but it is also Christmas – one of my favorite holidays of the year.

Being the first Christmas without my mom, I’m really struggling with my emotions on this day. It’s been such a surreal last few months and I miss her more and more each day. I am so grateful for all of my supporters whether you just read my blog, comment every day, or even my friends and family who don’t even recognize that I do blog. Everyone has been there for me in ways that I can never show enough gratitude for.

This Christmas, I wanted to extend the biggest thank you to all of my amazing supporters. I hope that I’ll be able to hold a big giveaway or just do something specific for those most loyal to my blog this time next year but, as I get no income from blogging, I am living on limited means.

To plan for the next year, what would you like to see in a future giveaway? I definitely want to try and include makeup and beauty products, as those are definitely my weakness, but there are so many awesome brands and products around that I want to know specifics. Give me the deets in the comments below!

Blogmas Day 23 | Two-Ingredient Holiday Punch Recipe

two ingredient holiday punch recipe

Having the perfect drink to go along with your feast is the best way to go during holiday dinners. One of my favorite punches is probably the easiest drink you will ever create and the tastiest as well! This punch only takes two ingredients and some time for it to mix together. You can also make different variations of it to fit your personal tastes.

Ingredients

1 gallon of lime sherbet
2 two-liters of Sprite

Optional: You may use any type of sherbet you would like as well as a different citrus soda depending on your personal preference.

Preparation

  1. Place sherbet in the freezer and Sprite in the fridge for a couple of hours to allow it to be properly chilled.
  2. Take out sherbet about twenty minutes before preparing the punch.
  3. Pour both two-liters of Sprite into punch bowl.
  4. Once slightly softened, slowly scoop sherbet into the Sprite.
  5. Mixed the two together and allow to sit.
  6. Come back and stir every twenty minutes or so until the sherbet is mostly melted.
  7. Some chunks of sherbet can be left to keep the mixture cold for a longer time period.

Have you ever made this before?
What about a different version?
Are you going to try it?!

Blogmas Day 17 | Gift Ideas for the Harry Potter Nerds in Your Life

gift ideas for the harry potter nerds in your life

As far as fandoms go, Harry Potter is by far my favorite of them all. I’ve been addicted to the series for as long as I can remember. My family has helped aid this addiction as well. I’ve gotten a hoodie with “I’m a Keeper” on it with the Quidditch hoops, I have my very own Time Turner necklace, and I have various other types of jewelry that I switch between wearing. That’s why I think it’s great to have an idea of what a fellow HP lower would want to be gifted for the holidays.

harry potter gifts

Hermione’s Time Turner Necklace – $18.73 USD

House Crests Pint Glasses Set – $29.50 $20.65 USD

Hogwarts Castle Print Download – $3.22 USD

Hermione Granger 5″ Plush – $18.90 $14.17 USD

Goblet of Fire Egg Necklace – $12.50 $9.37 USD

Maurader’s Map Pillow – $26.50 $18.55 USD

It’s LeviOsa, Not LeviosA T-Shirt – $12.99+ USD

Deathly Hallows Necklace – $11.99 USD

Platform 9 3/4 Mug – $10.50 USD

I don’t know about you guys but I would love to receive any of these gifts! Some of them may require some more work to make into a physical gift. For example, the print of Hogwarts is only a download, so you would need to have it printed and possibly framed. All of these are awesome gifts for HP lovers like myself! Do some last minute shopping before Christmas gets here!

Blogmas Day 15 | My Christmas Tree Reveal

my christmas tree reveal

Christmas trees are one of the first things one thinks of when December hits (and sometimes before then for some others). In my family, we have always put up the Christmas tree on my mom’s birthday, December 1st. Although she passed away this year, I continued the tradition and I plan to always do so. Christmas has always made me think of family and it does even more so now that she is gone. I also like to decorate inside with lights as a way to bring more of the holiday spirit into my shabby little apartment.

One of the things I’m most excited for is moving into a house where I can decorate to the fullest extent for the holidays with all of the awesome outdoor decor that you can get nowadays. Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving… I love it all! In celebration of the holidays, I am showing you my own Christmas tree. Although it’s not much, it’s perfect for us and was generously provided by my brother. Thanks, Bubba!

full tree

It’s a little unbalanced and all over the place but my nieces and nephews help me decorate and I had a little bit too much length for the lights… but I love it all the same! It’s adorable and perfect for a cute little apartment like mine.

Here are our stockings (held up by diamonds, representing ADPi)! There is one for myself and my boyfriend as well as our three animals. Chase and Lily, our cats, and Wilbur, my boyfriend’s bird (who is older than him!).

Here’s a view with our light-lined window and our door lined with lights as well.

And here is the overall view of our little Christmas-themed set-up. My tree is actually about my height (5’1″) which is quite perfect for my decorating purposes. I love Christmas and I was so happy to be able to celebrate a little more with my brother’s awesome contribution to my decorations.

Blogmas Day 14 | DIY Christmas Gifts

diy christmas gifts

I know I’m a little later in the day with today’s Blogmas post but better late than never! Today I’m bringing you some great gifts ideas for Christmas that you can make all by yourself (or maybe with a little help ?). Being a college student with limited funds, fancy Christmas gifts aren’t always plausible so that’s why I’ve brought some easy, affordable DIYs that will make your friends and family just as delighted during the holidays.

#1 Hot Chocolate Kit

Hot chocolate is one of the best things to curl up with on the couch during the holidays. A great gift would be to create a hot chocolate kit. Get yourself a mason jar and fill it about halfway with hot cocoa mix then add some marshmallows and you’re done! You can also add some flavor touches like chocolate chips or peppermint and decorate it with a tag including directions.

#2 Custom-Scented Lotion

Lotions are very personal to individuals so making a scent for someone could be a great gift. Just purchase an unscented lotion and add in your favorite essential oils to scent it. Mix it up, put it in a glass jar, and decorate! This leaves the scents endless and the thoughtfulness plentiful. If you’re feeling froggy, you could even try making the lotion yourself.

#3 Personalized Coffee Mug

Probably one of the most simple gift but it provides so much room for creativity. You can decorate a coffee cup in many different ways and customize it to fit that one person that no one ever knows what to get. Just buy a coffee cup that can be put in the oven, add your creation, and heat them at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes to get the design to stay put through wear and tear!

#4 Homemade Ornament

Something that everyone needs for the holidays are Christmas ornaments! You can buy one, order one, or make them yourselves. I think that DIY ornaments are the most thoughtful and you can get super creative with them. All you need is some paint or sharpies and an undecorated Christmas ornaments. You can get colored ones or completely clear ones!

#5 365 Reasons Why I Love You Jar

A very personal gift idea is a jar full of 365 different pieces of paper (red, green, and white for holiday spirit!) that each tell a reason why you love that person. If can be adapted for a family member, your best friend, or even your significant other. They have a whole jar of papers to open each day of the year until next Christmas. This way they are reminded each day of your love for them!
