Bringing back my Blogger Spotlight series and I am so excited to be doing so! The first blogger I am featuring is this sweetheart, April. She has been a doll and I have enjoyed getting to know her on Twitter (@travellinwander) and love how raw she is on her blog. Below is the interview I had with April as well as her links to her social media and her blog.
Q1: As you stated in our conversation, you changed your blog’s name from “Hopeless Wanderer” to “Travelling Wanderer”. Is there a particular reason or did you feel this was more suited to your style?
“Hopeless Wanderer” originated from the Mumford Sons song which I felt personally connected to. Specifically, the lyric “I will learn, I will learn to love the skies I’m under.” After I started to focus more on my blog and what I wanted to write about, I realized that when you travel the feeling of hopelessness rarely occurs. Through travelling and broadening my world of perspective, I realize that I am far from hopeless which sparked the name change. I travel, and I am a wanderer person driven by a taste for discovery, newness and invention, a person who sees adventure in the every day, in every moment.
Q2: What do you think the most exciting part of traveling is?
I love that travel awakens your senses, and makes your life rich with experiences. The world is so busy, that some people forget to take time away to explore new areas. The exciting part about travelling is that you embrace the unknown, and muster up the courage to be in an area unfamiliar to explore. You gain a broad perspective of the world outside of your own, and that can plant seeds to help your own personal growth. Travelling is about the beautiful places to you go, meeting new people, and gaining riches that will last a lifetime.
Q3: What are the top 5 places you want to travel to?
One of the top places that I want to go to is Alaska, ever since I was little. I dream of one day being able to stargaze in the forests, and capture astrophotography of the stars and northern lights being as one. Secondly, I would love to travel to Thailand to be embraced in culture, the food, ride an elephant, and to wander the beautiful beaches. Third, I want to go to Iceland to encapture all the scenery, and go to the Blue Lagoon. Fourth, I want to go to Oregon (which I will moving there in the upcoming months) as I am a sucker for the oregon forests and coastline that hugs the entire state. Fifth, I want to go to Greece for the intrigueing culture and to see the different towns. This travel list continues…
Q4: Do you have any tips for newbies who want to dive into the world of blogging?
In the world of blogging I am still considered a newbie, however, if I was to give one piece of advice I would say to just be yourself. There is a whole blogging world out there, find it and connect, but stay true to what your original creation is and continue to be uniquely different. Follow your love and always remember the reason why you started it, to use your passion to inspire yourself and others.
Q5: To you, what does the quote “Not all those who wander are lost,” mean?
A person who wanders does not need to have a destination or a goal, and that would not deem them as lost. These wanderers have a deep curiousity and need to explore without a compass or a map. It is about where that journey takes you, it is not about the destination or where you plan to go. Some wanderers, are lost and hopeless because they have not realized the value of the journey, only focusing on the destination. It is about learning to love the sky you are under, and following the wind without hesitation on the journey that you were meant for.
