September Goals

september goals

This month is going to be my last one in my current student teaching placement and I am already super sad about it. I have grown to love middle school so much and I’m going to miss my teacher and the kids something fierce. However, I am excited to be in an elementary school for my last two placements! I believe my first one will be 5th grade… or is it Kindergarten? Ha! I know I have both and I know I’ll do both, the question is, in what order???

september goals

This post is going to include some goals for me because you guys know that I have to write it down or I won’t do it. These are the things I want to accomplish this month, whether it be blogging-related, personal, or just random.

  • Decide on a new apartment. If you didn’t know, I am looking to move into a new apartment complex as I have been having some issues with my current one and I think it would just be best if I eliminated the stress entirely. I am looking into one area that is a bit more expensive, but I’m hoping I can swing it.
  • Continue blogging every other day. This is seeming like it may be impossible with my schedule, but I am going to try to crank out as many blog posts as I can over the next three days I have off at my job. I’ll be at school during the day, so I’ll have a few hours after to work on them.
  • Spend more time with my puppy! My more dog probably thinks that I hate him. With me working or student teaching every single day, I hardly get to spend time with him anymore. I am currently forcing myself to stay awake just so he isn’t locked in his crate all night after being in there all day. 🙁 #horribledogmom
  • Spend time with my friends. I literally have been keeping to myself 24/7 here lately and it’s starting to take a toll on me. I used to spend time with most of my friends at least every week or so and now I can’t tell you last time I saw one of my friends, except the ones I work with!
  • Clean my house ENTIRELY. I have made a lot of progress with this and done a lot of steps to complete this one but I have yet to be able to thoroughly clean my apartment since I moved in as I have worked every single day, or been doing something to do with student teaching.
  • Finish decorating. Although these seems a bit pointless since I’m moving in December but I’ve got all my stuff ready to hang up and complete my decor and just never can seem to find the time to do it.
  • Successfully complete one season of Game of Thrones. As I am on season one, it will likely be that one. I am so busy all the time that I never have the time to just sit down and watch it, even though I’ve already fallen in love with the series after only a few episodes!

Honestly, I didn’t realize how ridiculous some of these goals are, but my life has come to this point where I have to pencil in time with my dog… that’s pretty sad. I’m hoping things will die down more after student teaching and hopefully, I’ll find a job just off the bat (although I’m not holding my breath as December grads seem to have the hardest time when it comes to education jobs).

What are your goals for this month? Leave them in the comments down below!

August 2017 Blogging + Personal Goals

august goals

August is when my life really gets crazy so these goals are something I definitely need to focus in on and work towards. I start student teaching this month, I will be working still, and I want to make sure that I stay on top of my blogging schedule. That means that I have to plan, plan, plan! I have some big things in mind in my blogging life as well as my personal life.

august goals

Blogging Goals

  1. Reach 1,400 followers on Twitter. I am currently sitting just below 1,300 so I really want to try to push to make it to that 1,400 mark. My end-of-the-year goal is to make it to 2,000 but I don’t want to push myself too far and then get disappointed when it doesn’t happen so this is just a short term goal to make it to that.
  2. Continue blogging every other day. I am currently on a schedule where I blog every other day and this has been working out amazingly for me. I constantly have new content up and I am able to keep coming up with things because I have a break every other day.
  3. Reach 800 followers on Instagram. Instagram is something I just recently started trying to get more active on so I don’t want to push myself too far but I didn’t think I’d get to 700 so fast from where I was so I am going to shoot for 800 and hope for the best!
  4. Build @bliss_bloggers Twitter account. I just recently start a Twitter chat and retweet account for all us bloggers out there (if you’re not following, you should go do that here!). It’s a fun way to connect with bloggers, get your posts promoted for free, and just have fun. I plan to expand it into a group Pinterest board and a Facebook group soon so stay tuned.

Personal Goals

  1. Dive head first into student teaching. I start on August 11th and I am sooo excited but also extremely nervous. I really just want to put my all into this because this is how I am going to get the experience I need to get my own teaching job after I graduate in December. Wish me luck!
  2. Finish at least one book. I used to read nonstop and now I feel like I never even crack open a book. I just updated my Kindle not long ago and I have tons of physical copies of books so I just need to finally get back into my old habits and read, read, read!
  3. Organize my apartment. My home is still a bit of a mess from moving in as I’ve still been working nonstop since that happened. I really want to finally get all my decorations and organization done this month so I can feel 100% comfortable every time I come home. I’m slowly working towards it but it’s a work in progress.
  4. Get back into actively planning every day. Planning is something I love to do and I love making my planner look adorable on top of that. I have all the supplies I need and, with a busier schedule coming, I should be able to easily get back into it. I just hate when I forget about it and don’t look at it for a day because it throws me off completely.

That’s it for my goals for the month of August! I hope you guys enjoyed reading them and I really hope I can make it through without dying of exhaustion! It’s going to be a busy month but I got this and I know I’ll make it the best one yet in 2017.

July Goals

july goals

Goals always help me get organized for the month ahead so what better way to dance into the month of July than a goals post. These are all things that I really need to do because it’s crunch time for me. This is my last month of summer “break” and I am going straight into schools and student teaching within the first two weeks of August. So much to do and so little time!

july goals

July Goals

  • Get organized for student teaching next month (!!!): As many of you know, I am a special education/elementary major and I am starting my final semester in school, the “internship” or student teaching on August 11th! I am so excited and I cannot wait to move forward with this journey. It has taken a lot and so much time and effort for me to make it here. I just wanna say a huge thank you to all my family, friends, and you guys for always supporting me.
  • Start using my planner again: I usually slack a lot with my planner during the summer because I don’t have a lot going on but then I feel like I still forget things and I really need to start planning better so these types of things don’t happen. I am so pumped as well because I got a Teacher Planner from Erin Condren on sale when they were having either 30% or 40% off. It wasn’t too expensive and I got some cute accessories to go with it as well. I will do a whole post dedicated to that soon!
  • Stay focused on blogging: I always seem to fall off as a new semester starts with blogging and I cannot and will not allow myself to do that this time. I know I always say this but I get so down and disappointed with myself whenever things get too busy for me and I forget about LOK. This place has helped me in so many ways and I truly enjoy getting to write so often.
  • Start my YouTube channel (finally)…?: I really want to know y’all’s opinion on this as it has been something I have wanted to do for a looong time but never done. I get so nervous behind the camera and I truly hate the way I look when I talk in videos… but I have so much makeup and so much love for blogging and I think YouTube is like the next step for me! Plus it would make doing reviews, makeup looks, and tutorials so much easier to follow and create.

july goals

That’s about it for my goals! I’ve got a lot going on these next few weeks so I don’t want to overwhelm myself too much but setting goals is always an awesome way to keep me motivated and plus I love reading other bloggers’ goals so I figure somebody else probably enjoys reading them here.

Spring 2017 Semester Goals

spring 2017 semester goals

Back at it again with my goals! Part of me wonders if these really help but I know it makes me feel better to set goals for myself, even if I don’t always reach them all. This time, I am going to try and focus on including only my education/school related goals in these. As you know, I previously listed my 2017 personal goals as well as my 2017 blogging goals. If you haven’t read those, be sure to go check them out.

#1 Continue my all-A streak in my courses. I made all A’s again this past semester and I am very proud of myself, especially considering all I went through during that time. After making the Dean’s List yet again, what better goal could there be than to continue my streak for my last semester before student teaching!

#2 Stay involved in my sorority/organizations. Even though I have made it past my first semester in my sorority, which is known for being the busiest, I still want to make sure I go to as many events as possible. I love being involved and I want to continue to be such. I also want to keep being involved in the organizations I am a part of.

#3 Finish all my paperwork/meetings for study abroad. Although I’ve shared this with you guys, I am going to Ireland this coming up May. I have never left the country so I am beyond excited for this experience. I got the email that I was expected with conditions (obviously pending more paperwork, payment, etc.) so I am moving forward with the process.

#4 Get everything finished for student teaching. After this semester, I will be student teaching. I am sooo close to graduating, it’s unreal. I’m beyond excited for what my future career will hold and I cannot believe that I am this much closer to working in a school and having my own classroom.

#5 Invest in the perfect planner for student teaching. Planners are what keep my life in the most organized condition it can be. Being that student teaching will be such a time consuming and new journey, I need to get the perfect planner for this process. I am planning on getting the Erin Condren planner but I am still looking into my options. Any suggestions?

That is all for my goals for this semester. I can’t believe that it this time of the year again already. I know it happens twice for me but I get equally excited every time (until all of those assignments start rolling in). I can’t wait to see how I do with this goals.

Share your goals for this upcoming semester with me!

2017 New Year’s Resolutions

2017 new year's resolutions

After taking a week off from Blogmas, I am back and plan to be better than ever! New year, new me… right? Well, sorta. This year has been a whirlwind of emotions and crazy ups and downs. Apart from the obvious negatives that happened, I started my first semester of my senior status in college, I moved into my own apartment, I got a decent job for extra cash, and I have started planning to leave the country for the first time ever! There have been good times and definitely bad but I’m alive and I want to work on improving myself even more with the new year.

#1 Continue to work towards losing weight and getting healthier.

This will forever be everyone’s New Year’s goal because it is one that everyone needs to worry about after the holidays. Although I was doing well with this before my mom passed, I felt short after that and I haven’t been able to steer myself in the right direction since. I want this to change!

#2 Graduate successfully.

Obviously, I don’t see this going wrong at this point. This coming up spring is my last semester of classes and then I will be student teaching in the fall. I am so excited to keep moving forward with this part of my life and finally getting to a point where I am teaching as a career!

#3 Save money to rent a house.

Having been thinking about this for awhile and have talked with both my boyfriend and roommate in regards to the topic. We’ve decided that it would be great to move into a house so we have more room and also more space for the three of us. With having three fur babies (although one is in a cage), it can be difficult to live in a small two-bedroom apartment.

#4 Begin monetizing my blog.

Although I hoped to reach this goal awhile ago, I still want to work towards it. I don’t know much about monetizing or what I need to do to start moving forward with that. I have moved over to being completely self-hosted through Bluehost* while using a WordPress.org control system. So, that’s a step in the right direction… I think?

#5 Focus more on content for my readers.

I really use my blog as an outlet right now. This is the reason I started my blog as well. However, as I move towards monetizing and using my blog for helping others rather than myself, I want to focus on things that my readers want to read about. Now, obviously, my readers enjoy what I write about now so I will not completely abandon my ways.

August Review | Hello, September!

Super late blog post for you guys… hope you don’t mind.

I cannot believe that August is already over. It feels like it began three days ago and it all just flew by. I feel awful because I haven’t been writing posts but I have been so busy that I have barely even seen my boyfriend… and he lives with me! Between classes starting, joining a sorority, my other school organizations starting back up, work, and just trying to have somewhat of a life, I haven’t been able to do much other than nap (when I get fit it into my schedule). I’m actually avoiding a nap right now so I can do some homework and finally get a post to you guys! (I know, I’m so sweet.)

I wanted to do this so I could see how I did on my goals for the month of August! My next post will be setting goals for September, of course, because how else would I get through each month without trying to plan everything out to a tee. So, without further blabbing, here is how I did on my goals for August.

Personal Goals Review

#1 Focus of loving myself a little more. | I haven’t done awful with this but I haven’t done great. I try to look cute as far as my outfits but I haven’t put as much effort into my makeup… which really makes me sad! Like I said before, I love doing it but I am just so tired in the mornings that I don’t want to do anything that isn’t sleep for ten more minutes.

#2 Finish my current book of choice. | I most definitely did not do this. I actually started another book on top of the two that I already have started. Of course, you can’t blame me for this one because it is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. (I KNOW, RIGHT?! I’M FANGIRLING, TOO.) I will make my way through them all… eventually.

#3 Throw myself into the semester/school activities. | I have definitely done this… perhaps a little bit too much. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had any time to just relax and have fun. I’ve made time for a couple lunch dates with my best friend and late night dinner with my sisters but that’s really it. I need to learn that balance between it all.

#4 Pick up the apartment daily. | I did SO much better at this but I still haven’t quite got it mastered. I did try to do something in the name of cleaning each day, even if it wasn’t much, and my boyfriend helped out a ton because he only has work to worry about. He’s really been a godsend these past few weeks.

#5 Lose 5 more pounds. | I actually don’t know if I did this one or not! I’ve been pretty bad about tracking my calories the past couple of days but I need to get back on track with it and eat healthier. I’m really trying but it’s so hard when my habits become so irregular due to school. I need to weigh-in to see where I’m at soon!

Blogging Goals Review

#1 Reach 50 email followers. | Failed. Miserably. I have a whopping total of 4 followers through my email subscription. I’m actually pretty sad about it. I don’t know what I did before that got me so many email followers but I’m going to have to up my game if I’m ever going to get to that amount again.

#2 Reach 50 Bloglovin’ followers. | Well, definitely didn’t make it to 50 (maybe I should have set these goals a little lower?) but I got to 16 so that counts for something. I feel like that’s a good growth for as little as I’ve had time to be online this month.

#3 Continue to schedule posts ahead of time. | I definitely didn’t manage to get the two weeks worth of posts out for my first two weeks of school, like I had hoped. I did have about a week and a half scheduled but after that, I dropped off the face of Planet Blog. I really am going to try to pick myself back up but I need a day where I can just get things done for my blog the entire day if that’s going to happen.

#4 Stay on my blogging schedule. | I stuck to this until about halfway through the month after classes started. I still plan to keep doing things on this schedule but I may have to drop to only doing one post a week for now if I can’t keep up with three posts a week. I hate doing that but with how busy I am, that may be best for during the semesters.

#5 Keep up with my new Facebook group, Blogwarts. | This one has much better success! With the help of my amazing admins on my Facebook group, I’ve been able to keep this going strong all throughout August. I’m super proud of Blogwarts’s success and I really hope it continues to grow into an amazing resource and blogging family.

BTS | Fall 2016 Semester Goals

Goals always get me in the right mindset for a prosperous future. That’s why I’ve collected my goals for the month, personal and blogging that is, in a previous post. Being in college is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I love being able to learn something new all the time and study what I love while I do it. This is probably why I want another three degrees after I finish this one… Regardless, I need to set goals for myself in order to make sure I keep myself on track for success.
#1 Reach 10,000 steps at least 3 days a week. This is a bit harder to keep up with right now because I am not allowed to have my phone in my pocket or on me at all at work so it stays up front. I’d probably get a bajillion steps in each day if I was able to but such is life. I want to make this goal specifically for days that I won’t be working.

#2 Set a gym/work-out schedule and don’t stray from it. I always say I’m going to go to the gym every single day or work out at home but I do it for a couple of weeks and then flake off. I can’t keep doing that. I need to make a schedule and stick to it. I think setting something more realistic like 3 days a week would be easier than every single day.

#3 Continue my streak of all A’s every semester. I’ve gotten all A’s for at least two semesters (maybe even 3 but I can’t remember at the moment) now and I want to keep that trend going. I have a whole post about how to get straight A’s (using my own methods), if you’re interested.

#4 Read at least three books for fun. I always neglect doing things for me during the semester. I either get too caught up in school or am just too tired to want to do things that I enjoy. I’m currently reading a book and I want to keep up with my reading throughout this semester. I think setting a goal for one book a month will surely help!

#5 Stay involved in my organizations. As you all know, I accepted a bid from Alpha Delta Pi this semester so I am very excited to add this on to the organizations that I take part in at my university. I am also president of our local Student Council for Exceptional Children, vice president of our Kappa Delta Pi chapter, and vice president of social media for our National Society of Collegiate Scholars chapter. This, as you can imagine, should keep me pretty busy (which is how I like it!).

#6 Take time out for myself. This is going to be the hardest one. I am always so focused on school and helping everyone else that I never take time for me. I will not do this anymore. I am going to go out with friends, have a glass of wine at night, binge watch Netflix, read those books I set a goal for, and just relax sometimes. It may seem scary (ha) but I know I can do it if I really stick to my goals.
That is all for my goals for this semester. I can’t believe that it this time of the year again already. I know it happens twice for me but I get equally excited every time (until all of those assignments start rolling in). I can’t wait to see how I do with this goals.

Share your goals for the next few months with me below!

August Goals

I can’t believe August is here already! It feels like yesterday that July started and I was getting everything ready for my boyfriend officially move in. Now he’s moved in, I’m loving my job, I signed up for sorority recruitment, and school starts in less than two weeks! I’m so happy that this time is finally back. I love summer but I feel like it’s far too long sometimes. I love school (yes, I’m one of those) and being out for THREE MONTHS drives me up the wall with boredom.

Now, with a new month comes new goals! Not only will I be setting goals for the month of August but I’ll also be setting goals for the upcoming fall semester (Stay tuned for that post!). However, this is only for my monthly goals so let’s get into it…

Personal Goals

#1 Focus of loving myself a little more. | I’ve worked so hard towards this goal in the last year or so and I’ve really improved. However, with work and being busy, I’ve neglected it. I don’t try as hard and I don’t feel as good about myself because of it. I love doing my hair and makeup in the mornings because it makes me feel good. I love wearing edgy yet cute outfits because I feel amazing in them.

#2 Finish my current book of choice. | I am currently reading a novel called “A Version of The Truth” by Jennifer Kaufman and Karen Mack. I’m in love with it so far. I’ll definitely have to do a book review on the blog once I finish it but I can already tell it’s going to be a good’n.

#3 Throw myself into the semester/school activities. | School is one of my favorite parts of life… which explains why I want to be a teacher and get three degrees at minimum. I’m so excited for classes to start back and I’ll be a SENIOR this year. That’s crazy! I am finally going out for sorority recruitment so I’m beyond excited. I’m also an officer in a few organizations so I really want to plunge into that at full speed.

#4 Pick up the apartment daily. | I’m really bad at this. I get so busy with work here lately that I always let it get a mess before I clean it… mostly because I’m so exhausted and just wait until my day off. My goal is to continually pick up around here every day so I don’t have a HUGE mess to clean once my days off come around.

#5 Lose 5 more pounds. | I started counting calories and working on my weight loss journey once again almost three weeks ago. I have now lost 10 pounds since then and I could not be more excited. I’m so proud of myself and I can’t wait to continue to lose more. As a guide, I want to lose at least 5 more pounds in the month of August. I lost so much recently that this shouldn’t be too hard if I keep eating healthy.

Blogging Goals

#1 Reach 50 email followers. | I had over 1,000 email followers on my previous blog before my unfortunate incident happened. This is honestly what hurt me the most because I lost all of them. Most of my social media was easy to transfer or pick back up but I haven’t had as much luck with this. I’m going to seriously try to up my email follower game this month. (You should totally go to the sidebar and sign-up if you haven’t already. 😘)

#2 Reach 50 Bloglovin’ followers. | The same goes for this as does my email followers. I had to remake my Bloglovin’ when I got a new blog (naturally). I don’t have barely any followers here either but I’m planning the same course of action. Hopefully, my Facebook blogging groups and Twitter will help me build up my followers. (If you want to be a doll, you can also follow me on Bloglovin’ here.)

#3 Continue to schedule posts ahead of time. | I think this is going to be what keeps me from getting behind once classes start back up so I have GOT to do it. I plan to get about two weeks worth out before the first day of classes (if I can manage it) so I don’t have too much to worry about until I’m at least a week into classes so I can focus on getting a feel for the semester.

#4 Stay on my blogging schedule. | I currently have new posts go live on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This puts me at posting three times a week, which seems to be good for me and an easier schedule to live up to. I even did a poll and everyone agreed that this was best. I want to stick to this throughout school coming back (this is REALLY hard for me).

#5 Keep up with my new Facebook group, Blogwarts. | Blogwarts is a new group that I created that is going AMAZINGLY. It’s based on Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series, only for bloggers! I have so many amazing admins and members that have made my 19 members grow to almost 100 now in only a few days. This is so mind-blowing. I couldn’t be more grateful. I want to keep up with this and help it grow as much as possible. (Click here if you want to join in and be sorted into your very own house. ⚡️)

hello august

My Personal Five-Year Plan

five-year plan

Thinking about the future is so scary. One day you’re going to classes as a freshman in college and the next you’re hopping into your senior year,  planning to study abroad in Ireland, and preparing for student teaching. I am both extremely excited and beyond terrified for what my future holds but, in true Kimberly form, I have to plan it all out to not have a total anxiety attack. That is why I am going to share with you all my five-year plan for my personal life! I plan to do an entirely different plan for the blogging world.

As 2016 is getting closer and closer to being over, I’m starting this plan at the beginning of 2017. This will be the spring semester of my senior year (although I will have to have an extra semester for my student teaching in order to graduate). I will be preparing for this new endeavor as well as searching for jobs to enter into once I graduate in the following semester.

2017

2017 is going to be a year full of tons of new things. Not only is it my last year I’ll be studying for my bachelor’s degree but I am planning a trip to Ireland to study abroad during that summer. The last semester I study is also the semester that I will be doing my student teaching which consists of half a semester in a special education classroom and half of a semester in a general elementary level classroom.

2018

This will be my first year a college graduate. That is insane! I don’t even want to think about that at this point but I’m really excited for it, regardless. My plan is to find a job in the field of special education (preferably in an elementary school) in my immediate area however I am willing to go as far as Nashville, Tennessee in order to find something. I want to spend the four years I have to work in a Title I school near home so I can work on saving to move to a new city as well as get settled into a job that can train me for bigger and better things. That being said, I will start saving for The Big Move starting in 2018!

2019

After I have been working for about a year, I want to look into continuing my education. I have plans to get at least two masters degrees and my doctorate but I’ve got to start somewhere. I will be starting my first master’s degree where I will be studying Moderate to Severe Disabilities. Depending on where I am living, I will either continue my education at Murray State University or switch to another university for graduate school. My bachelor’s degree is in Learning and Behavior Disorders and having a more extensive education in more areas of special education will not only help me be a better teacher but allow me to have better job opportunities.

2020

Continuing my second semester and third semester of graduate school while working full time, this is when I’ll start planning The Big Move that I plan on taking. One of the main places that my boyfriend and I are hoping to move to is Portland, Oregon – however, I am also interested in moving to Los Angeles, California or Chicago, Illinois. (Unrealistically, I reaaally want to move to London, England some day!) I will continue working and finish my first year of graduate school successfully while doing so. My main concerns will be saving money still and looking at exact locations of where we will definitely end up.

2021

My last semester of graduate school for my first master’s degree will take place at the beginning of this year. To continue The Big Move, I will be looking for a place to live, another job in our chosen location, and getting ready for the process to truly begin. This is where I really feel like my life will begin. Leaving my family to go to another state is going to be scary but my ultimate goal is to make a life for myself and Travis independently where we can start our lives together.
