Review & Swatches: Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette

naked heat palette

Urban Decay is back at it again with a new addition to their Naked series. This time it is the Naked Heat palette! I was so excited to hear about a new Naked palette as the quality of them are always phenomenal and I’m a sucker for neutrals of any sort, shade, etc. I love that they are going outside of the “normal” now with the Smoky and Heat palettes. Some people don’t think that they qualify under the “Naked” status but I still think that the idea is underneath that.

naked heat palette

Right off the bat, I’m obsessed with the packaging. It’s the same as the Naked Smoky where it is a plastic type deal with a nice design that catches the eye and magnetic closure. It has the mirror inside and it comes with a total of 12 shades as well as a dual-ended brush. Normally I’m not all for brushes that come with palettes but UD’s are usually good quality and this one is no exception, though I wish it wasn’t dual-ended.

inside naked heat

I definitely think this palette could be used for a variety of different looks whether it’s something cranberry and fall or more orange and summer. There is a good balance of shimmers and mattes in my opinion. Ounce has some shimmer to it but not a lot so I think it would be great for inner corners or a browbone highlight. There is a total of 7 mattes and four shimmers/one satin. Now let’s get into the swatches.

From top to bottom, left to right: (row one) Ounce, Chaser, Sauced, and Low Blow – (row two) Lumbre, He Devil, Dirty Talk, and Scorched

Last row, left to right: Cayenne, En Fuego, Ashes, Ember

Overall, as always, I am super impressive with Urban Decay’s new addition. They swatch beautifully and are super creamy to the touch. I loved playing with these and I can’t wait to see all the different looks I can come up with. It’ll probably be another go-to for me during the fall, just like the past Naked palettes have been.

What do you guys think?
Love it? Hate it? No more Naked?

Review & Swatches: Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette

jaclyn hill palette cover

First off, I cannot believe I am actually getting to write this blog post. If you follow me on Snapchat (which you totally should – UN: kimberlyygracee), then you know that I was very impatient with this palette release. I was already on the sight and ready to get it then the site crashed for a minute. After the initial issues, I was able to get it and finally get all of the pages to load in order to put my order in! Unfortunately, it is now sold out but I hear it is coming back this month.

Morphe x Jaclyn Hill: The Jaclyn Hill Palette

jaclyn hill palette cover

As you can tell, even my kitty approves of this gorgeous simplistic packaging. He would not get out of this photo, matter of fact. Off the bat, I am obsessed with the metallic font that they did of her signature. Not only is the outside gorgeous, but the inside has a super sweet message that Jaclyn wrote, thanking her subscribers.

I love how genuine and sweet Jaclyn has always been. After just one day of watching her on YouTube, I was in love. She cracks me up and she is truly talented. Of course, once seeing all the hype on this release, I had to get my hands on it. Let me tell you… this palette is worth the hype.

jaclyn hill palette

It is beyond beautiful and just looking at the shades makes me fall in love immediately. I am all about the mix of colors and the amount of looks that just automatically pop into my head when I look at this. It is so amazing that she was able to create something so versatile but yet so her! Even though you can probably tell my opinion already, I’ll let you be the judge – let’s do some swatches!

first row jaclyn hill palette

The shades coincide where the palette from left to right are the swatches from top to bottom. Above we have Enlight, Beam, Silk Crème, M.F.E.O., Faint, Sissy, and Little Lady. This row just screams girly to me. I could see many natural and feminine looks that would be great for weddings and other special occasions.

second row jaclyn hill palette

The next room just screams fall. The shades are Creamsicle, Butter, Pooter, Pukey, Hunts, Firework, and Queen. I love the pops of color that could easily brighten up the eyes and take something smoky a little further.

third row jaclyn hill palette

Now this is my idea of fall in a row of shadows. I live for these cranberry, maroon shades. You could make a killer smoky eye with this but you could also make it super metallic with those top two. The shades are Obsessed, S.B.N., Hillster, Roxanne, Jacz, Buns, and Cranapple.

fourth row jaclyn hill palette

Now this row gets into a couple fun shades as well as the brownish colors. I’m obsessed with that purple. It calls to me, if you couldn’t tell from my Mermaid Vibes makeup look. The shades are Royalty, Twerk, Hustle, Meeks, 24/7, and Chip.

fifth row jaclyn hill palette

Then last, but certainly not least, the final row. This features a couple gorgeous blues that I think could give an epic out-of-the-box look. The greens and dark purple combined could even bring that all to a dark mermaid look (hint for a new look I’m going for…?). The shades are Pool Party, Jada, Diva, Enchanted, Central Park, Soda Pop, and Abyss.

And that is the entire palette. I can’t believe that this is finally out and I got my hands on it. I’m obsessed with it and can’t wait to try out tons of looks throughout the year, which I plan to share with you, of course.

June Rewind

waverly hills sanatorium

June has been a month of craziness it seems like. I have worked 90% of the time and tried to have a life and deal with other personal things during that. I have always liked working a lot during the summers because I don’t have school to keep me busy and I can save money to make up for the lack of hours I get during the semester. As of the past week or two, I have been planning to move over to the one-bedroom apartment I have lined up and just trying to get my life more organized.

The beginning of the month seemed to go by so fast because I was working and studying for my PRAXIS II exams all the time. I did end up taking the exams and still don’t have scores for the PLT or Special Education ones, but I got my scores for the Elementary Multi-Subject and I passed them all but science! I was so worried about social studies and I think I may have understudied for science in the process… and the worst part is that I was only four. points. away. So annoyed. Just gotta study harder and retake it in a couple of weeks!

Once the middle of the month hit I got to spend a few days with my nieces and nephews so they came to visit me. It had been a busy semester so I didn’t see them a lot during the start of the year. I love getting the chance to see them and actually do things rather than them just come over and go to sleep then wake up and go home. We went to Mr. Gatti’s and played in the arcade, we played video games, we went swimming, and my oldest nephew even went to the fair with a friend of mine and her son! It was a lot of fun.

This week has been working and packing nonstop. I have procrastinated the packing (like I am currently doing) quite a lot but I think I’ll be able to get it all done in time. I just hate sitting around packing while I have no one to talk to or anything. Feels so weird to be alone in my apartment after always having a roommate but I think I’ll be okay once I’m in a one-bedroom and it’s my one little living space and not having so much empty space, like I do now.

I also got to go to Waverly Hills this month!!! This is a sanatorium in Louisville, Kentucky that is said to be haunted by the patients that once passed away there. It was a tuberculosis hospital for those who were ill back in the early 1900s. The sanatorium was built to house the patients back in 1910 and its doors opened in 1926. There is said to be a “death tunnel” where they would take the bodies of the deceased to be picked up by trains because they could not control the death rate of those contracting the disease.

gargoyle examination tables morgue drawers outside corridor inside corridor death chute death chute outside corridor outside corridor

Things like that are super interesting to me so being able to go was an amazing experience and I can tell you from personal experience… that place definitely has paranormal activity flowing through it. There were many different occurences that happened while my aunt, who is a sensitive. Even if you don’t believe in those things, there was no logical way to explain what happened Friday night.

Overall, June was a pretty good month. Busy as always but I can’t complain too much! How did your month go? Anything exciting happen? Sound off in the comments!

Review & Swatches: The Magic by Juvia’s

the magic by juvia's

Juvia’s Place is an amazing brand that I just recently discovered a few months ago. Their shadows are insanely pigmented and their pans are huge! The awesome part is… they are also extremely affordable! This is a newer, though pretty sure they’ve already got another out, release called The Magic.

the magic by juvia'sinside palette

The palette features a nice combination of warm and cool toned shadows, which I love! I also love that there are a lot of shimmers because those are my fav. Mattes are great for the blending but shimmers make my life, plus they have plenty of mattes for the blending needed. Now, let’s get into some swatches!

row 1

Row 1 (from left to right): Nubia, Zakiya, Osun, Kesi

row 2

Row 2 (from left to right): Zuba, Nana, Boronu, Kogi

row 3

Row 3 (from left to right): Faso, Aja, Vai, Yemoja

row 4

Row 4 (from left to right): Ife, Yara, Buzo, Yejide

After using these shadows, I can confirm that their quality is just as perfect as their previous palettes. Forever obsessed with Juvia’s quality and overall commitment to providing affordable cosmetics! Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Review & Swatches: Jouer Skinny Dip Collection + More

skinny dip palette

Along with the many other cosmetics that I have ordered this month (RIP my bank account), I got the new Skinny Dip collection from Jouer Cosmetics. I was super excited because I had never tried their eyeshadows or liquid lipsticks before. I have had their highlighters and they are to die for. I got two new ones of those (although that was a lot of disappointment, we’ll get to that later). I figured since this is my first go at Jouer’s other products, I’d do a little swatch fest and review for you all who are interested and trying out the brand.

lip cremes skinny dip palette skinny dip and rose gold highlighters

So, I’ll go ahead and let you guys know now that I did not swatch the highlighters. That being because mine came shattered. I know that Jouer’s highlighter formula is veryyyy soft and it crumbles easily so it probably just got tossed around too much during the shipping because it was shipped in very nice packaging and wrapped well. I did email them but have not got a response yet. Hopefully, I will get that soon so I can use these babies. Now, on to the swatches!

skinny dip palette skinny dip palette

Skinny Dip Ultra Foil Shimmer Shadows (from left to right: Midnight Swim, Magic Hour, Tan Lines, Skinny Dip, Bikini, and Star Light

Excuse the massive amounts of glitter on my arm as I swatched the Stila Magnificent Metals glitter eyeshadows right before this and… that wasn’t my best idea. 😅 So, these are extremely pigmented and creamy shimmer shadows. I am obsessed with this formula. My favorite is probably Star Light just because it is sooo shiny. The only disappointing shade would be Bikini, which is the light, baby pink color. It’s not that it is not pretty much it feels like a much different formula than the rest of the shadows. Maybe it was packed too tightly but I couldn’t get a lot of product off when swatching it.

lip toppers and lip cremes

From left to right: Rayanne, Pamplemousse (lip crèmes), St. Tropez, Skinny Dip (lip toppers)

lip cremes

From left to right (lip crèmes): Cabernet, Brique, Lychee, Tawny Rose (my personal favorite so far and the one I tested on my lips)

Now, first impressions, I am obsessed. These are an amazing mousse-y formula that is super opaque on the lips. I tested out Tawny Rose to see how it wore and it stayed on like a dream and looked amazing on my skin tone. The only one that surprised me, though I am not disappointed, was Cabernet. Due to the color in the tub, I excited something deeper and darker than the shade after (Brique), but it was just as bright and just more violet in my opinion. Still a gorgeous color!

Overall, I am very pleased with the new products I’ve tested. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do a Jouer highlighter post to make up for the lack of swatches in this one. I think I’ll have four total once I get replacements for the two that came broken. So, what are your opinions of Jouer Cosmetics? Do you use their products?

Review & Swatches: ColourPop Birthday Collection

birthday collection

Back at it again with the ColourPop swatches! I can’t help it, ColourPop is just way too affordable and such amazing quality. I am obsessed with this collection because it was themed after holographic. I don’t know if this was on purpose but I am living for it. The birthday collection for the “Big 3” is on point! The pressed eyeshadows especially are calling my name. I can’t wait to get these on my lid (just know how much I love you guys because I’ve been saving these until I could swatch them for you all).

birthday collection

Please tell me someone noticed the awesome “birthday cake” set-up I did with the collection photo above??? I tried really hard, guys! Anyway, above are all the pieces to the amazing collection they released for their 3rd birthday. They have done a limited edition Super Shock Shadow in the past (i.e. Birthday Boy and Birthday Girl) but never a collection, to my knowledge, so this was exciting for us all. Below are swatches and the shade names for the all as well as what the product is!

pressed shadows

Top to bottom (pressed shadows): Cakewalk, Party Favors, Rager, The Big 3

collection

Top to bottom: Birthday Cake (super shock shadow), Blow Me Out (super shock cheek), RSVP, Wishes, Bash (ultra glossy lips)

Overall, I am impressed as usual with the quality that ColourPop puts out! I am super excited to play with this collection more. Did any of you get this collection? What did you think? Let me know in the comments.

Review & Swatches: ColourPop Summer Collection

ColourPop has been coming out with waaay too much here lately. I cannot keep up! I did, however, get a few little tidbits from collections they’ve released, the summer one being the target of this blog post. I don’t know that I have all of the products in the summer collection in here, because I only buy what I think I’d use, but they’ve got some GORGEOUS stuff in this collection and I’m obsessed. I do think a couple of these shades aren’t actually part of the collection but they were ones I didn’t think I had so I just included them in here.

summer collection

So, the first ones I swatched were my go-to Super Shock Shadows. Now, everyone who’s been using ColourPop for awhile knows that these were what basically made them huge among the beauty community. I love their SSS and they will always have a special place in my heart… but these pressed shadows, oh my gosh… they are amazing! Below are swatches of all the shadows, with captions telling you what the shades are.

super shock shadows

From left to right: Dance Party, Cusp, Ibiza, Banana Daiquiri, Sugar

pressed shadows

From left to right: Salt Water, Two Piece, Tiny Tangerines

I am beyond excited that they brought back Ibiza, after everyone and their mama was asking for it to come back. I think they were just waiting for the exact moment, knowing them and their “last call sales”. 😉 #iseeyoucolourpop

So, what do you guys think of the collection? Did I miss something you love in the collection? Let me know in the comments!

Blogmas Day 18 | Mini ColourPop Haul + Swatches

mini colourpop haul and swatches

I got a small order from ColourPop Cosmetics a little while ago. They came back out with some of their previously discontinued eyeshadow shades so I wanted to get my hands on them before/if they weren’t going to be offered anymore. They are all gorgeous every day, wearable colors that I love. I also got four brushes, two shader brushes and two blender brushes, for free because of my eyeshadow purchase. I have not tried out these brushes yet but if you guys would like a full review on their quality with ColourPop shadows and/or other shadows, let me know in the comments below.

From top to bottom: Valley Girl, Cheap Date, Birthday Girl, Game Face, Prickly Pear, Boy Band, Hot Tamale, Moonshine

These are all shimmery shades of some sort and I’m obsessed. If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know that anything shimmery in the eyeshadow department is my absolute favorite. These shadows are just as amazing quality as all other ColourPop Super Shock Shadows have been in the past for me. I definitely think I love Cheap Date and Prickly Pear the most of all of the ones I ordered, which was a huge surprise as I was not expecting those to be my favorites. I give these a 10/10, would buy again!

Blogmas Day 10 | First Impressions & Review: OFRA Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks

first impressions and review ofra cosmetics long lasting liquid lipsticks

I know I am sooo late to this bandwagon but I finally made the plunge into OFRA’s liquid lipsticks. I know, I know… everyone loves these so why has it taken me this long? Well, I always love to get a good amount of whatever I am trying for the first time, especially if I’ve heard stellar reviews on it. Their holiday sales gave me the opportunity to do that! They had 50% off going on which allowed me to get nine lipsticks for a MUCH nicer price point. That being said, I’m going to tell you my first impressions and review over these well-known liquid lipsticks.

While collecting my thoughts of these lipsticks, the conclusion is… I adore them. The color range available on OFRA’s website is INSANE and the formula is unlike any liquid lipstick I’ve tried thus far. It is very creamy and mousse-like but still applies evenly and has amazing pigmentation. I’ve instantly fallen in love with these lipsticks. After wearing one for awhile, I can also tell you that they wear amazingly. They feel comfortable on the lips and are the closest I’ve ever gotten to feeling like I’m wearing no lipstick. I am blown away by the quality of these lipsticks.

I picked up nine different shades, based on colors that I felt like I would wear, and they all were gorgeous and very true to the colors I believed they would be. I also finally got a black liquid lipstick and I’m PUMPED. Below are the swatches of the shades that I purchased (please excuse my sad excuse for swatches).

full arm swatches

From left to right: Ultimate Red, Atlantic City, Tuscany, Hypno, Honolulu, Brooklyn, Harlem, Bordeaux, The Bronx

Below are close-ups of the shades in the same order as listed above.

first set of close up swatches

second set of close up swatches

That’s it for my first impressions and review of the OFRA Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks! I have to say, I am sad that it took me so long to take the plunge because I have a feeling I will be wearing this A LOT. I’m obsessed with the amazing formula and, close to the Jeffree Star Cosmetics and Kat Von D formulas, it is definitely a favorite.

Have you tried the OFRA liquid lips?
Do you love them? Hate (😱) them?
What are your favorite shades?

Blogmas Day 7 | Fall 2016 Semester Review

fall 2016 semester review

Now that I have finished my last final, I can officially say that I am DONE WITH THE FALL 2016 SEMESTER! 🎉 I am so excited to get some relaxation time where I’m not working on homework every single day. I have decided to go back to work so I’ll be working throughout the break but that doesn’t bother me because I always want something to do. I hate being so bored during breaks that all I want to do is go back to school (even though that will happen anyways).

Fall 2016 Semester Goals

#1 Reach 10,000 steps at least 3 days a week. ✖️ I definitely did not complete this goal. I honestly had a lot fewer steps each day because I took a hiatus from my job to focus on school and my extracurricular activities. I wish I would have tried harder but, after my mom passed away, doing what I needed to in school was the most that I could handle.

#2 Set a gym/work-out schedule and don’t stray from it. ✖️ It’s safe to say that I also did not complete this goal. I am still planning to do so next semester so look out for my goals for the Spring 2016 semester!

#3 Continue my streak of all A’s every semester. ✔️ I actually DID do this! Although I thought the semester was going to go downhill after mom’s passing, I made myself a promise to make her proud of me and I think I did just that.

#4 Read at least three books for fun. ✖️ I started more books but I definitely didn’t finish any. I’m a little disappointed with myself for this but I’m hoping to finish them all during this break from school.

#5 Stay involved in my organizations. ✔️ I definitely did stay active in all of my organizations, with exceptions for those that did not do much during the semester. I made sure to get super involved with Alpha Delta Pi and try to get more people active in SCEC. Things did not go as planned but I still made sure I was active.

#6 Take time out for myself. ✔️ I didn’t do this as much as I had hoped but I definitely did do it. I made sure to have some fun with my family, as much as I could without Mom, spend time with my boyfriend, and make the most out of the worst thing to happen to me in my entire life.

I completed half of my goals, which is pretty good for me, so I would like to think it was a successful semester. Considering the circumstances that I was under during this fall, I did more than I ever thought I would. How did your semester go? Did you do all the things you planned to? Let me know in the comments below!
